  • The Evaluation Systems group of Pearson is recruiting currently certified Texas state teachers and recent retirees to score the constructed response components of the Texas Educator Certification Examination Program.
  • Scoring the Texas Educator Certification Examinations provides educators with a unique opportunity to network with peers, support their profession, and stay up-to-date with current practices and content
  • Scorers are provided with the opportunity to learn a process for evaluating responses to performance assignments, effectively and fairly
  • Scorers are provided with a thorough orientation to the methodology of how to score responses and gain valuable assessment skills in the process
  • In addition, Pearson is currently working with the Texas Education Agency on the redevelopment of several content fields
  • Scorers who are interested and experienced in these fields may be able to assist with this process
  • Scoring sessions are held throughout the year at our San Antonio office and can last from one to four days, depending on the content area
  • All scoring is done during the day
  • Compensation is hourly
  • Travel expense reimbursement for scorers traveling more than 50 miles one way to the San Antonio facility may be approved

Qualifications

  • Texas certified teacher who has at least three years of experience teaching, the specified content area for the scoring field, in Texas State Schools (public or private).
  • Texas certified teacher who has taught the specified content area for the scoring field, in Texas State Schools (public or private), within the last three years.
  • Reside in the State of Texas
  • Hold a Bachelor's Degree

AND, must meet one of the following:

  • Be a PK–12 teacher who holds a valid and current teaching certificate in the state of Texas to teach the specified content area
  • Be an EPP faculty member of a program, approved by the state of Texas, that offers the specified content area programs
  • Be an EPP faculty member teaching courses, approved by the state of Texas, for the specified content area
  • Be an educator who has scored the specified content area Certification exam within the past 3 years
