POSITION SUMMARY

The Quality Control Technician will be responsible for monitoring and effecting positive improvements in the quality of Zoetis BioDevices. This individual will be expected to perform with a high level of competency in BioDevice performance testing, component/sub-assembly inspection, change control, and prevention of defects. This position reports directly to the Site Quality Lead and will work in a matrixed environment interacting closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Customer Support, and Planning. 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the development and implementation of processes, procedures and documentation to achieve quality objectives. 
  • Ensures that the Quality Control Laboratory remains in good standing with all regulatory bodies (ISO, OSHA, local/regional authorities, etc) and conducts business in a safe and effective manner. 
  • Support Supplier Quality Program including NCMRs, auditing, and metrics for internal/external vendors, and external 3rd party assemblers.
  • Conducts BioDevice release and qualification testing and in-process inspections/testing. Ensures all documentation is complete before product release and addresses any gaps through Device Deviation process. Ensures compliance with customer-driven or regionally driven standards such as CE, ISO, etc.
  • Acts as the final Quality Gate prior to customer shipment.
  • Supports continuous improvement initiatives & interaction with internal customers and suppliers.
  • Adheres to standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation, utilizing knowledge from cross-functional quality, engineering and biological areas.
  • Assists field service in the evaluation and resolution of device issues.
  • Assists with developing standardized work in the assembly process.
  • May be responsible for department compliance activities such as, but not limited to: records retention, calibration, assist professionals with deviation investigations, release work in process lots, etc. 
  • Participate on project teams on behalf of manager or team
  • Initiate Engineering Change Requests for discrepancies found on Engineering specifications.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors degree in Science or Engineering with 2+ years of experience or
  • High School Diploma with 5+ years of manufacturing/quality experience

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to investigate and develop solutions to complex problems following established Zoetis policies and procedures.
  • Experience in quality operations, regulatory, change management processes, and manufacturing operations.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings and knowledge of GD&T.
  • Experience with performing measurements using calipers, micrometers, thread gages, and other hand tools.
  • Experience with CMM, Borescope, and Optical measuring equipment desirable.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications; Visio, MS PowerPoint, and MS Project.
  • Experience with SAP software.
  • Understanding of Lean and Six Sigma tools.
  • Effectively maintain 5S standards for assigned work area.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform Change Control and Deviation processes.
  • Strong written and oral communication and ability to work effectively on a team.
  • Demonstrated organizational, administrative skills in addition to proven skills in multi-tasking and prioritizing projects in support of standard work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Team Members to facilitate completion requests and review from all levels to meet all deadlines.

PHYSICAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • This position requires sitting, standing, and walking with occasional overtime/weekend work. 
  • Must wear appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in manufacturing/production areas. 
  • Daily tasks involve office, lab and assembly environments
  • Required to lift up to 35 lbs on a regular basis
  • Travel expected up to 10%
