Overview:

With the acquisition of Lord & Taylor by Le Tote Inc., the EVP of Human Resources will be responsible for both building out and running the Human Resources department. In the first 12 months, activities will be heavily focused on separation from the former parent and the establishment of recurring HR processes. The role will be that of a strategic advisor to the CEO and Lord & Taylor President with the ability to influence operational decisions and organizational change related to personnel and human capital matters. The ideal candidate is one who thrives during periods of change, has experience with mergers and acquisitions, has both run and built an HR department, and excels with new challenges.

The Executive Vice President of Human Resources will be a strategic partner for the Lord & Taylor leadership team and responsible for leading all HR functions supporting our corporate and stores associates. The Executive Vice President of HR will assess, design, and align the HR teams to support the integration of business systems, compensation and benefit programs to achieve business goals and objectives. S/he will foster talent development, associate relations and HR operational excellence. As the organization evolves and expands, the Executive Vice President of HR will implement programs and infrastructure that can scale across a diversified workforce.

The organization employs approximately 5,000 associates across the US. The Executive Vice President of Human Resources will be responsible for managing budgeted, full-time staff of 16 employees in addition to HR Coordinators and Managers in 38 stores.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Culture & Employee Experience: Build a rewarding and engaging culture where an appreciation for tradition is balanced with a passion for innovation. Define and drive values that rewards, promotes and encourages high performance throughout the organization. Set up infrastructure to manage through change and instill a level of trust and transparency across levels and functions.
  • Talent: Lead talent resource planning to position Lord & Taylor as the employer of choice for top-tier talent by staying up-to-date on the latest policies, practices and trends within the industry. Partner with leadership to hire for seasonal or project-based needs and identify appropriate and effective sourcing channels for candidates at all levels within the company. Ensure high priority training needs are identified and prioritized and effective learning and development programs are put in place to grow talent. 
  • Organizational Assessment & Design: Review and advise business leaders on best practices in organizational design, organizational development, leadership development, employee engagement and retention, performance criteria and measurement, succession planning, and talent reviews for an exempt and non-exempt workforce.
  • HR Operations & Compliance: Develop and monitor policies that align the business goals with the HR organization but manage the complexity of federal and state labor laws where Lord & Taylor operates. Coordinate the management of HRIS data and necessary reports for critical analysis of labor costs and employment law compliance.
  • Compensation & Benefits: Partners with Leadership team to develop targeted compensation strategies for the retention and growth of high potential employees. Continually assesses the competitiveness of all programs and practices against the relevant comparable companies, industries and markets.
  • Learning & Development: Create and implement a comprehensive long-term vision for learning & development and ensure staff are engaged, productive and prepared for future opportunities.
  • Vendor Management & HR Budget: Manage all external vendor relationships includingPayroll, Benefits Brokerage, Benefits Administration, Compensation Consultants, and Third-Party Search Firms. Maintain annual HR department spend against budget.
  • BA or BS Degree 
  • 15+ years of experience driving, building and scaling teams of HR generalists for companies of at least 1,000 employees
  • Experience as a senior HR professional supporting a business unit or an entire company, including experience serving as an advisor to the executive team
  • Retail experience, leading HR for hourly and distributed employee populations (distribution center, customer support, stores, etc.) 
  • Prior experience or a strong interest in a technology organization
  • Functional expertise in organization design, succession planning, compensation and equity programs, employee relations, and workforce planning 
  • Ability to balance short-term and long-term objectives with a focus on implementation
