Creating the cars of tomorrow is a challenge around 40,000 passionate Jaguar Land Rover colleagues take on every day. The way cars are created and driven is changing. And we are leading that change. Our vision is for a cleaner, smarter, more connected world where autonomous, connected, electrified and shared vehicles will replace the environmentally impactful world of the internal combustion engine. Throughout our history we have always taken on the challenges of creating the most prestigious, sustainable and desirable cars.

Operating in world-class engine manufacturing facilities you’ll undertake a role in either Quality Operations or Maintenance where you’ll be responsible for maintaining automated and advanced technologies and ensuring our products satisfy precision engineering specifications. You’ll provide support to maximise production efficiencies and maintain all associated plant equipment to ensure the smooth running of our state-of-the-art production facilities.

Join the Advanced Apprenticeship Scheme, and you’ll have opportunities to make your mark in routes such as:

QUALITY OPERATIONS

Plant Quality Operations ensures our products satisfy precision engineering specifications. You'll perform a variety of testing and validation activities ensuring the quality and performance of our engines exceeds our customer expectations.

You'll gain detailed knowledge across a range of measurement, testing, analysis, investigation processes and techniques and develop teamworking and problem-solving skills to support root cause analysis of quality concerns.

In addition, you’ll work cross-functionally to support the investigation and resolution of quality concerns as well as contribute towards the continuous improvement of engine design and/or build and validation processes.

In this area, you’ll work to improve our manufacturing techniques and processes, and gain knowledge of our vehicles and production techniques, reporting on assembly solutions, standardisation, quality and economic best practice.

MAINTENANCE

You’ll carry out preventive maintenance, diagnose and fix faults, on complex machinery and equipment to keep our manufacturing operation running smoothly. You’ll develop your ability to use problem-solving skills on robots, logistics, process system and electrical and mechanical components.

We’ll also help you develop the skills required to carry out machine alignments and interact with Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) / Numerically Controlled (NC) equipment to ensure machine availability and the quality of our product.

You’ll also gain the ability to use problem-solving skills to understand and correct complex problems within the production environment. In addition, you’ll gain both electrical and mechanical training, and can develop yourself into a highly skilled and well-rounded technician.

WHAT TO EXPECT

You’ll undertake a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship under standards approved by the IfA (Institute for Apprenticeships). This exciting programme will develop your practical skills and cultivate the knowledge you need for your role. This is all achieved whilst developing your knowledge, skills and business behaviours such as teamworking and problem-solving. A network of Industrial Training Managers and line managers will regularly review your progress and provide support, advice and guidance along the way, to enable you to perform at your best.

Together with invaluable commercial and practical experience, you’ll gain several academic and vocational qualifications throughout your time with us, which are fully paid for, including:

  • Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)
  • Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence)
  • Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge).

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

You’ll need Maths GCSE and English Language GCSE Grade C/level 4 or above.

In addition, you’ll need three further GCSEs including a Science, Engineering, Technology or an additional Maths subject at Grade C/level 4 or above, or as an alternative, Engineering Vocational qualification level 3 of 90 credit value (540 GLH).

REWARD AND BENEFITS

Your innovation and creativity will be challenged every day, as you develop a rigorous and commercially focused approach in your work. And, with on-going support from industry leading experts and continual learning opportunities, you’ll quickly realise that our programmes have been designed to be as inspiring as the pioneering vehicles you’ll help produce.

Whichever part of the business you join your hard work and contribution deserves recognition. You’ll receive a competitive salary and upon successful completion of the scheme you will also have achieved a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Manufacturing and Engineering. We will also pay for your tuition and course fees, give you a generous holiday allowance as part of your package, and you will be able to access a range of deals and discounts from various retailers and sports clubs.

And there are regular social events so plenty of chances to make friends and have fun too.
