We are seeking a highly skilled Scientific Project Manager to join our team for the Center for Linkage and Data (CLAD). In this role, you will play a pivotal role in managing activities that will drive the success of the program's mission. Your expertise coordinating activities, managing timelines, driving progress and effective communication will contribute to the acquisition of critical data and the advancement of groundbreaking research within the biomedical domain.

CLAD is a groundbreaking initiative by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) All of Us Program to gather health data from diverse populations across the United States for research. The program aims to accelerate research and improve health outcomes by providing investigators with access to a wide swath of health information. This role will contribute to shaping the future of biomedical research by ensuring accurate representation of project materials and results, which are key communications of research advancements. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage a virtual, geographically distributed and interdisciplinary project.
  • Work collaboratively to increase the productivity and accountability of a team that is developing transformational software for bioinformatics.
  • Oversight of specific projects and workstreams.
  • Create project plans, manage deliverables, including timelines, risks and coordination of cross-functional tasks using product and project management software. e.g. GitHub, GSuite (Google Workspace), Jira etc.
  • Managing and coordination of a tracking dashboard/spreadsheet for CLAD activities and tasks.
  • Tracking status and follow-up using AGILE methodology.
  • Prioritizing within categories, using a RACI model.
  • Tracking action items, and decisions made at internal leadership meetings.
  • Cross-coordination within NCATS and support of NCATS leadership team members.
  • Managing the process for issue identification and problem-solving with SMEs.
  • Coordinate deeper level thinking and discussions on specific issues.
  • Ad-hoc support of monthly data access committee meeting needs (e.g., quarterly reports, meeting summary).
  • Constant attention to helping teams with the definition of completion for stories, tasks and subtasks.
  • Identify and organize appropriate and effective meetings for various activities. Assist with agendas, facilitate meetings, capture action items and decisions, and distribute information to the attendees.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.S. or Masters degree in Bioinformatics / Science Management or closely related field.
  • Holistic understanding of complex scientific program needs.
  • Excellent communication skills and situational awareness.
  • Ability to establish rapport with leadership team to gain high level perspectives and input.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to connect and integrate multi-disciplinary groups.
  • Sound judgment, positive attitude, and creative outlook required.
  • NIH or similar government experience preferred.
