Job Description

Supports network architecture consultants by preparing detailed specifications and documentation from high-level designs | Plans, researches, evaluates, designs and develops network systems by applying engineering, hardware and software design theories and principles to develop a compatible system infrastructure in line with organization strategies. Designs, analyzes, plans and modifies network components supporting customer communication implementation activities. Develops and evaluates network performance criteria and measurement methods. Prepares the analysis of the short-term or long-term capacity needs for switching, routing transmission and signaling. Conducts network architecture design, feasibility and cost studies. Develops alternative routing scenarios and changes in required sequence of network activities. Conducts economic and population growth studies to determine impact on network capacity and development plan projections.

Requirements:

  • OSI Model understanding
  • Dynamic routing & VPN protocols (IPSec, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF)
  • Layer2, Layer3 configurations of Switches, Routers, Firewalls
  • Packet captures (TCPDump, Wireshark)
  • IP Networking experience
  • LAN and WAN design, monitoring, and management
  • Network security background
  • Experience with Cisco networking equipment (routers, switches, etc.) and device configuration/management (IOS)

OSI Model understanding

Dynamic routing & VPN protocols (IPSec, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF)

  • Other Common Servers & Services (FTP, DHCP, DNS, etc)
  • IP telephony experience preferred, including:
  • VoIP call systems and devices
  • SIP call setup and management
  • Analog gateway deployments (AudioCodes, Sangoma, etc.)
  • IP telephony phone/endpoint management (Polycom, Algo, etc.)
  • SQL database experience desired
  • Soft Skills
  • Written and verbal communication (strong listener, ability to write)

  • Self-starter; ability to work a problem without significant guidance
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in CS, CE, or EE preferred
  • 5+ years IP networking experience required
  • 3+ years Linux (or Unix, Solaris, AIX) operating system experience required
