Job Description Details

As a Senior Copywriter, you will guide the development of Zulily’s brand voice in the retail space, focusing on marketing and digital channels. You will have the opportunity to conceive new ad concepts, write copy, craft headlines and execute campaigns that impact our customers across a variety of categories and industry verticals.

The ideal candidate is a talented and passionate copywriter who thrives in a fast-paced, creative environment. This role will be responsible for creative development of on-site shopping experiences as well as social and display advertising to engage customers. We are looking for someone who will create innovative, stunning, effective copy – combining inspiration with leadership to raise the Zulily brand to the next level.

What you’ll do:

  • Compose and edit marketing copy for Zulily’s major retail programs
  • Collaborate with Marketing Managers and the Creative team to craft strategic campaign messages for their programs
  • Write short- and long-form pieces with a high degree of conceptual creativity and verbal polish
  • Collaborate with category leaders to learn about their businesses and how customers shop in those categories in order to deliver clear, concise information
  • Conceptualize and present creative directions, scripts, copy and headlines for on-site and off-site advertising
  • Draft compelling headlines and advertising messages that convey the objectives for the campaign while speaking appropriately to the target audience
  • Provide copywriting as needed for sales and marketing collateral, while maintaining the company's voice and creative standards
  • Manage projects in a timely fashion for multiple deliverables on campaigns with competing timelines
  • Provide best practice guidance for effective copywriting and raise the bar for the Zulily brand voice

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in a relevant field such as communications, marketing, advertising or business
  • 6+ years’ of experience as a copywriter with interactive/ad agencies, design studios or in-house retail teams
  • Advertising or marketing background, preferably with experience working with premium brands
  • Advertising or creative agency experience
  • Deep knowledge of SEO best practices
  • Experience with writing/editing video scripts
  • Keen awareness of the importance of brand consistency
  • Ability to speak with authority in the social media space
  • Know how to change customer perceptions and behavior with compelling copy
  • Be ready to comfortably and confidently present to all levels within the organization, in both written and verbal communications
  • Demonstrate impeccable attention to detail, excellent grammar and top-notch copywriting skills
  • Think and act both strategically and tactically. The successful candidate will be a tenacious self-starter with a passion for effective communications, someone who can serve as a strong advocate for our customers.
  • Be able to manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment
  • Be ready to conceptualize and execute projects, with a strong bias for action
