President and Chief Executive Officer South Carolina Autism Society Posted: 9/16/2019 Position Type: Full-Time (Paid) Function: CEO/ED/President Primary domain: Human Services City: West Columbia Postal code: 29169 State: South Carolina Country: United States Organization Information: Budget: $1M - $3M Website: https://scautism.org Mission statement: To equip those affected by autism spectrum disorders with knowledge and support to maximize their quality of life. Position Details: Job Description: The South Carolina Autism Society (SCAS) is seeking an experienced leader capable of leading the organization and developing the resources necessary to enhance, refine, and execute the strategic plan developed by the Board of Directors, with the ultimate goal of enabling individuals and families living with Autism Spectrum Disorder to be able to improve their quality of life, independence, and to be treated with the highest level of dignity, and live in a society in which their talents and skills are appreciated and valued. Reporting to SCAS’s Board of Directors and working collaboratively with the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs (SCDDSN) and other relevant stakeholders, the President/CEO has overall strategic and operational responsibility for implementing the four key pillars of SCAS’ operations, as detailed above. • Parent-School Partnership • Case Management • Information and Resources • Education and Training Specifically, the President/CEO is responsible for growing and executing the program; developing, coaching, and managing the professional staff; and establishing and maintaining authentic, genuine, and commercially relevant relationships with donors and corporate partners. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: · Strategic Vision and Organizational Leadership - Work with the Board of Directors to develop and implement a strategic plan and yearly organizational goals. Assist the Board in its organization and its committees, and provide assistance in recruiting new board members and committee members. Provide the Board with timely, detailed information needed to make decisions concerning SCAS, its policies, and programs. · Program and Team (HR) Management - Recruit, hire, and supervise all case management, administrative, and other staff and ensure that all staff receives any and all needed training to perform their jobs in a timely fashion. Additionally, provide all staff with an overview of SCAS and its history. Perform comprehensive and regular performance management of all SCAS staff. Ensure that all personnel policies found in the SCAS Employee Handbook are followed, and maintain the Handbook to keep the policies current and in compliance with current local, state, and federal laws. · Resource Development and Fiscal Management - Oversee all planning, development, implementation, operation, and evaluation of all SCAS programs. Manage financial affairs, including budget drafting, bookkeeping, and accounts payable and receivable in conjunction with the accountant and treasurer. Expand and maintain funding through grant applications, corporate partnerships, and direct fundraising activities. Provide an independent auditor with all information necessary to conduct an annual review of the agency, and implement any corrective action for problems discovered through the audit. Represent SCAS in its relationship with state agencies and other related statewide organizations. · Policy, Advocacy and Communications - Meet regularly with leadership in the Autism Division of the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs. Develop and maintain a relationship with the South Carolina Education Oversight Committee (EOC). Maintain current knowledge of relevant state and national legislation and policy changes related to autism, and advocate with the appropriate decision makers. Monitor legislation and regulations that may have an impact on individuals with autism and their families. Maintain positive communications with the Board, support groups, and the families and individuals served by SCAS. Serve as the chief spokesperson for the agency. Qualifications: · BA degree, advanced degree preferred, with seven to ten years of senior management experience in either the private sector or not-for-profit space (preferably both) · Track record of effectively leading and scaling a performance- and outcomes-based organization and staff; ability to point to specific examples of having developed and operationalized strategies that have taken an organization to the next stage of growth · Unwavering commitment to quality programs and data-driven program evaluation · Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage, and develop/change culture of high-performing teams; set and achieve strategic objectives; and manage a budget · Past success working with a Board of Directors, with the ability to cultivate existing and new board member relationships strongly preferred · Effective marketing, sales, and fundraising experience with the ability to effectively engage a diverse range of stakeholders · Effective written and verbal communication skills Personal Characteristics · Passion for the mission of SCAS and for opening up opportunities for all people with autism, regardless of where they are on the autism spectrum · Respectful and understanding towards all people on the autism spectrum · Has a genuine understanding of, and provides real solutions to, the struggles of all people on the autism spectrum · Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, and adaptable, with an innovative approach to business planning and execution High level of integrity, a positive attitude, and self-direction Benefits: The South Carolina Autism Society offers health insurance benefits, paid vacation, holidays, and sick leave. Salary: $90k - 100k Posting Expiration Date: 11/15/2019 How to Apply: Please e-mail resume to these SCAS Board of Directors members: pamelajenkins@scautism.org vidamingo@scautism.org nina@scautism.org To receive targeted job listings like this one by e-mail please create a job alert
