Zoopla are looking to attract a Head of UX & Design who can transform how consumers find, buy and lease properties. Our work focuses around the mission of making a meaningful difference to people discovering their dream homes and being additive to our business customers’ eco-systems, from agents, developers and landlords – we help via our digital platforms, data and marketing capabilities. As a leader in this field, Zoopla can really push the envelope on the whole home buying/ renting experience, as well as introduce a far more sophisticated way of marketing homes than the typical “classifieds”.

We’re looking for leaders for UX, UI as well as the overall design department, to reinvent how Zoopla approaches this, and grow and develop the teams. As Head of Design at Zoopla, you’ll take a leading role in driving the voice of the consumer and our customers and engaging stakeholders in evolving our products, brand and services meeting our varying audiences needs. We want someone who can make the role their own by coming up with an overall design strategy and vision to balance both short and longer-term goals. Taking our stakeholders through uncharted territories, you will use design principles to help uncover value and validate propositions. Being comfortable with ambiguity is must.You are intuitive to the needs of cross-discipline teams. You are hands-on with the detail yourself and know when to delegate, whilst offering direction and inspiration.

Key responsibilities:

  • Promote continual creative improvement and actively contribute to a culture of innovation, excellence and accountability
  • Articulate and defend conceptual and directional choices
  • Inspire and motivate multi-discipline design teams and serve as overall design leader for the business
  • Direct teams through all phases of design work from concept through production
  • Mentor and lead the design team through critique of their work to improve and maintain consistent creative quality and user centricity
  • Collaborate with Senior Leadership Team, product owners, and technical leads to identify and define features, use cases and user stories
  • Understand and where appropriate challenge business requirements to champion user needs in accordance with product and market strategies supporting our brand
  • Maintain awareness and mitigation of project risks
  • Clearly present various stages of interface design development, concepts and ideas to business owners, team members and stakeholders of all levels
  • Experience leading multi-discipline in-house design teams at scale for B2C audiences
  • Design leader with success creating measurable growth and development for teams and product experiences adding commercial value
  • Believes that strong products and brand are aligned through collaboration across disciplines and teams, with experience doing this at scale in the UK or internationally
  • Experience working with senior leadership team to drive commercial strategies through product-oriented design solutions
  • Professional knowledge of user-centered design, usability principles, techniques and methodologies and can lead/mentor others through this
  • Tools agnostic mindset focused on outcomes not outputs
  • Thrive at solving complex design challenges that make a difference to people's lives
  • You can think big whilst being detail oriented and delivery focused
  • Provide timely feedback from your team to benefit project development and working culture and encourage the same in return
  • Adaptable style. You know when to coach, direct and motivate
  • Experienced at working within Agile/SCRUM processes
  • When it comes to developing others, you’re a leader in the field – someone with an exceptional range of skills who is flexible, collaborative, contributive and keen to create change
