Principal PM Manager (Product Management)

A key to achieving our objectives is to ensure our Microsoft 365 Foundational Experiences product team has the very best talent available to it. The M365 FX organization is searching for a seasoned lead program manager to create an international M365 product team with a staff composition that increasingly exemplifies the diverse nature of our customers. 

The successful candidate will own establishing the vision and charter of this new product team grounds up, establish operational processes and business rhythm, and establish how we will measure the success of the product team. You will partner with other M365 FX managers to identify and evaluate the projects which would benefit from ownership in the international engineering center; own the strategy for, and be accountable for delivering key pieces of Windows integrated value (for current and emerging products). 


Strategic leadership: Develop a cohesive charter integrating the multiple pieces of M365 FX experiences that you are accountable for. Demonstrate thought leadership to ensure the experiences you own are contributing to achieving the key M365 business and health goals (as measured by key metrics). 

Planning and execution: Ability to think holistically and strategically. Leverage understanding of engineering rhythm so that the team operates at a high level, knowledge is shared appropriately, and decision making happens at the right levels on the team. Proven ability to plan, organize, and manage complex technical products with world-class user experiences. 

Coordination and collaboration: The work you own is part of a larger collection of value requiring deep partnering and collaboration with other program management and engineering leaders to ensure strategic objectives are met. You have a proven ability to work closely with others to achieve a common end, and to influence those across the management spectrum. 

Communication: Able to conduct insightful, multi-faceted conversations with senior business and technical decision makers inside and outside Microsoft. Conceptualize complex ideas quickly and convey those thoughts to others in a clear, and effective manner. 

Cultural leadership: Proven ability to lead cultural initiatives, having positive impact on team morale and fostering an environment of inclusion. 

Microsoft values: As a member of the M365 extended leadership team, you must be representative of the Microsoft cultural attributes and leadership principles. 

Judgement: Sound business and technical judgment needed. Consistently demonstrating executive maturity and intellectual curiosity, helping the team pursue the best ideas. 

Note: Ability to travel is a requirement given the global nature of this role. 


Qualifications – 

10+ years of related product development experience shipping multiple software products 

BS/MS in computer science or related field preferably with an MBA 

Proven competency in strategic leadership, organizational agility, cross-team collaboration, drive for results, and written and verbal communications.

Experience building software products with diverse engineering and design teams and stakeholders 

Track record of building high functioning teams, including recruiting and retaining diverse talent base 

Strong project management and people management skills 

Working in agile teams with strong customer focus 

Experience working on cross platform applications or services used at scale 

Proven track record of collaborating with multiple partner teams 

High energy and drive to reach out to stakeholders, socialize and drive consensus 

Demonstrated ability of independently handling a complex area 

Passion for experience design and creativity 

Ability to own and become a subject matter expert in a specific area 

Exceptional teamwork and values that foster a positive team culture 

Ability to connect with customers and draw insights from primary and secondary data 

Technical competence and strong analytical skills
