WGN America, is hiring for an energetic and passionate sales professional to fill an Account Executive role in the Los Angeles office. With original series like Pure, Gone, Dog’s Most Wanted, along with top-notch aquired programming, WGN America is a popular choice for viewers across the national cable landscape. The Account Executive role is responsible for growing existing and developing new business for the network through the selling of national cable television time to advertising agencies and clients.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and organizes a sales strategy aimed at meeting individual and team sales goals
  • Securing new business and expand existing high-end business
  • Collaborate with regional split partners to ensure highest share of advertisers’ business
  • Conceive, develop, prepare and present sales, marketing and research materials to key decision makers
  • Cultivate relationships with regional agencies and clients throughout the Southwest and Pacific Northwest
  • Perform in-depth analysis of sales plans to ensure successful implementation of all department strategies (eg achieving pricing premiums, aiding inventory management efforts, driving sales of original and premium content).
  • Effectively negotiate key deal points
  • Remain abreast of current marketplace conditions
  • Manage and mentor sales planner and sales assistant
  • Work closely with internal constituents in finance, pricing and planning, research, marketing, programming and creative services
  • Maintain visibility at industry events

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Minimum of five years experience selling or buying national television advertising
  • Strong demonstrable knowledge of the national market, rating services, qualitative research and available sales and research tools
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong communications skills, in person and phone
  • Team player
  • Goal oriented, self-motivated
  • Proficient with basic computer skills
  • Occassional travel in assigned regional territories
