Position Overview

This position will manage both Sales Engineer and Delivery teams, reporting into Country Manager. The mission of Sales Engineers is to own technical discussions primarily during pre-sales stage while the mission of Delivery team is to execute post-sales activities and deliver quality output to the customer, including custom development and technical consulting. The team is flat and consists of professional members. The role is expected to be a player-coach, sometimes owning complex deals as an individual contributor. Our ideal candidate will be passionate about and enjoy solving technical problems, managing team and collaborating with other teams including the ones at the headquarters.

Job Responsibilities

This position is expected to take all or majority of the following responsibilities:

Manager

  • Resource/delivery management - Secure and assign required resources for each engagement and ensure successful delivery on time and budget
  • Team management - Build and maintain a strong team, and ensure each member is motivated and skilled
  • Partner management - Develop and manage the relationship with local partners to satisfy varying resource demands. 
  • Liaison with the headquarters - Represent Japan Professional Services team and liaise with product and solution services teams in the headquarters
  • Solution review - Review and advise on technical solutions that team members develop for proposals and engagements, to ensure the quality of deliverables.
  • Contract review - Review contracts for services engagements, in consultation with legal in need.
  • Operations - Make sure that projects are being setup correctly and data entered in support of the necessary financial accounting practices of the group.

Individual Contributor

  • Lead Sales Engineer/Tech Lead/Technical Consultant for complex deals - Own technical discussions for complex deals, for which other team members may not have enough experiences, as Lead SE, Tech Lead or technical Consultant depending on the type and stage of engagement.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years experience in: 
  • sales engineer, 
  • technical project management, and/or 
  • technical lead roles in IT industry
  • Technical knowledge
  • Demonstrated experience with client-side tools and technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, in-browser debugging, etc.)
  • Experience with at least one server-side language (PHP, Python, Java, etc.) strongly preferred
  • Any experience with native mobile app development a plus
  • Relevant experience
  • Proven ability to negotiate business contracts, including scope, timeline and cost, with clients and prospects.
  • Willingness to build positive and productive relationships with clients.
  • Previous experience facilitating workshops and business reviews to ensure client satisfaction.
  • General personal quality

  • Hands-on approach to tackling tactical as well as strategic work

  • Native fluency in Japanese
