Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:

As a Director Workforce Strategy you will drive the company’s Workforce Strategy approach by building, leading, and enabling a high performing team and manage the success of the overall assigned areas of responsibilities. You will promote a strategic Total Workforce Management mindset across Functions/Businesses, influence stakeholders, and drive, together with the team, a broad and sustainable roll-out.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive the conceptualization, roll-out and continuous enhancement of the Company’s holistic Workforce Strategy approach including the development and implementation of adidas’ Workforce Governance process and Strategy as well as the company’s Location Governance and Strategy and Strategic Workforce Planning process – all with the end goal of achieving a comprehensive Total Workforce Management approach for the company, in line with the company’s financial ambitions and people goals. 
  • Drive on-time implementation by closely monitoring progress, results and milestones, proposing solutions in case of delays or deviations from plan, and drive decision making
  • Orchestrate and align cross-functional meetings, tasks and activities with all team members and drive transparency, clarity, execution and best practice sharing
  • Interpret, collate, analyse, prepare and present data and facts for decision making
  • Build and lead a highly engaged team (Senior Manager Workforce Strategy) and provide the platform for long term, (cross-)functional careers
  • Drive Team performance and manage performance tools (e.g. target setting, performance reviews)
  • Support the Senior Manager Workforce Strategy in any activity and execute Workforce Governance & Strategy activities where required
  • Manage overarching Stakeholders
  • Supervise and support Senior Business Partners in developing and maintaining baselines, target settings and saving ambitions as set by Functions, both financial and qualitative when applicable
  • Identify and mitigate risks to achieve set targets and define/maintain mitigation plan

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Broad and deep project & program management skills and experience in larger scale projects and/or change programs/initiatives
  • Ability to interact effectively across hierarchies, Functions/Businesses, and cultures
  • Experience in managing difficult and conflictual (client) situations and meetings
  • Passion for bringing adidas to the next level of effectiveness, efficiency, and employee engagement
  • Ability to manage a team of Senior Managers and to coach and develop team members
  • Proven creativity and curiosity to identify and solve a wide range of Function/Business challenges
  • Capability to independently structure, analyze, and synthesize findings
  • Ability to adapt to and deliver in quickly changing and uncertain environments
  • Ability to work, structure and prioritize independently on a wide range of assignments
  • Strong (internal) customer and service orientation in day-to-day work
  • Strong written, oral communication, and presentation skills
  • Very strong skills in working in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Creative, confident and collaborative nature
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken), German a plus

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Advanced degree (e.g. M.Sc., Diploma) in business administration
  • 8 or more years of work experience (preferably within different companies)
  • Experience in team management responsibility
  • Experience in facilitating workshops
  • Experience within multiple Functions a plus
