Role description

The Strategy Consulting practice is looking for individuals with experience in M&A consulting or similarly rigorous delivery roles in corporate strategy division of leading private companies in the UK. In particular, we are seeking to hire experienced professionals to join our growing M&A team.

We are looking for individuals who have worked on Acquisitions and Separations consulting with experience across the M&A deal life-cycle and an understanding of the C&IP, LSHC industries

If you are highly motivated and skilled in your field, are willing to travel (principally within the UK), and have a passion for addressing the challenges private clients face in today’s fast consolidating markets and disruptive business models.

The nature of the work varies but your work is likely to involve the following

  • Strategic growth options analysis and evaluation: working with clients to understand and shape strategic organic and inorganic growth options, and identify shortlists of M&A targets in existing or new growth domains
  • Vendor-assist services and technical due diligence support: Evidence-led, deep-dive technical analysis of the client or target companies for sell or buy decision support respectively
  • Functional integration or separation planning and execution support: helping our clients to capture maximum value from their intended inorganic growth strategy (acquisition or separation) and delivering an effective model and governance structure that enables long-term shareholder value creation for the organization


You will be based in a Deloitte London office, however travel will be required for client based projects. Whilst some clients are London based, we do spend time on site with regional and international clients. We specify full mobility for our consulting roles but we make arrangements respectfully.

As a Manager, you would join the M&A consulting team, which sits within our Monitor Deloitte strategic transformation team, and seek to gain a wide variety of skills and experiences, across a range of engagements and clients.

As a Manager your responsibilities will include for:

  • Generating analysis and insight: executing rigorous and insightful analysis to build an evidence base to support strategy development and change;
  • Tools, skills and frameworks: developing an understanding of effective tools, skills and frameworks that can be brought to bear on new client problems, and shared as best practice within the team;
  • Team management: managing and support junior resources in order to ensure successful project delivery;
  • Relationship management: Working closely with clients and third parties (e.g. academics) to develop strong professional relationships;
  • Liaising with other internal teams (e.g. Technology, Enterprise Risk Services, Data Analytics) to ensure the effective application of the subject matter expertise available, and a seamless client experience;
  • Continuous Learning: proactively developing your own skills, seeking feedback, building knowledge, and sharing your insight with colleagues;
  • Supporting the management of the practice and successful business development
  • Demonstrable experience of leading, managing and executing big ticket front office and revenue synergy programmes for tier one multinationals in an M&A environment which have added real value to the client’s business and be highly innovative within the market
  • An individual must demonstrate credibility by having advised CEOs, chief marketing officers, chief sales officers, and customer experience directors amongst others on high profile transactions multiple times over many years
  • C&IP or TMT experience is most desirable

We are looking for people who enjoy addressing complex problems in an analytical manner, with a proven record for effective delivery in demanding M&A project environments, and with deep sector knowledge

To qualify for the role you will have:

  • 7+ years’ experience in a corporate strategy delivery role overseeing large scale strategic transformation programmes such as M&A activity; or minimum 5 years’ experience in strategy consulting, with experience in delivering large scale integration and separation projects for clients within the C&IP, LSHC industries
  • MBA Degree or equivalent post graduate qualification
  • C&IP or TMT experience
  • Flexibility to travel

Additional desirable attributes include:

  • PhD in a relevant scientific field;
  • Certified project management professional
  • Experience in technical due diligence
