SSOE is looking to hire an Electrical Engineering Section Manager to lead a team of junior and senior electrical engineers in the design of state-of-the-art industrial and manufacturing facilities for the world’s leading companies.

Responsibilities

The Electrical Engineering Section Manager will be assigned to lead projects and people within our Electrical department. This position is responsible for coaching, leading and mentoring department staff, thru excellent communication drawing from a background of cross-discipline communication. Plus, possess the ability to serve as subject matter expert (SME) for the technical design of complex projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Coaches, directs, coordinates, facilitates, and supervises Electrical Designers, Engineers, and other technical personnel. This includes all employment and employee relations activities.
  • Ensures the technical competency and quality of work performed by staff. Will be required to serve as Engineer of Record with engineering oversight for select projects.
  • Verifies that the Quality, Budget, and Schedule (QBS) requirements for each project has been defined and monitors progress to ensure the QBS key measures are met.
  • Reviews, modifies, and approves discipline work plan for each project.
  • Prepares and monitors project work schedules and projected workload schedules for department.
  • Leads routine section meetings to discuss QBS related items and staffing needs on projects.
  • Provides staffing and resources such that the group can meet project requirements.
  • Identifies strengths and weaknesses of section personnel to identify and prioritize training needs. Develops and implements section training program with the assistance of the Training and Development Department and Department Manager.
  • Responsible for section employee relations activities with the assistance of the Human Resources Department and Department Manager.
  • Travel may be required.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Registered Professional Engineering (PE) license in good standing, preferred.
  • Relevant professional or technical background with generally 8 or more years of engineering experience in a professional engineering environment.
  • Experience leading teams of engineers, designers, or other technical personnel in a design environment.
  • Working knowledge of the NFPA 70 National Electrical Code, specifically in the areas of sizing for conductors, raceways, and cable trays as well as sections relevant to installations in an industrial manufacturing facility.
  • Valid driver's license required. May be waived for international assignments.
  • Salary Range: $120,000-$145,000/year depending on location, education, experience, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
