Job Description

What your new role will entail;

Our thriving, multidisciplinary Water Engineering team in the South West & Wales region are looking for a motivated and team orientated Senior Structural Engineer to join our growing team within our Exeter, Bristol or Cardiff offices. The team are delivering an exciting portfolio of water programmes and projects through long term frameworks with key clients including major UK water companies (Wessex Water, Welsh Water, South West Water locally), contractors and international projects. This role represents a great opportunity to develop your career as a technical expert delivering solutions on a diverse range of projects that meet the technical challenges of today and tomorrow.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Structural Design : Undertake the design and review of structural elements on wastewater and water infrastructure/ treatment projects, such as water-retaining structures and other water related assets, from concept through construction.
  • Collaborate : With Client and AECOM counterparts to ensure stakeholder buy in to solutions, and also contribute to AECOMs wider technical capability and innovative approach.
  • Quality Focussed : Produce and review deliverables, including calculations, drawings and technical reports to relevant standards and procedures.
  • Delivery Focussed : Take responsibility for delivering to the agreed budget, programme and quality along with supporting the preparation of project budget & programme.
  • Explore and Harness : Seek opportunities to innovate and trial new methods by being inquisitive and forward thinking.
  • Mentor : Delegate tasks, direct and oversee the work of others and act as a technical mentor to more junior staff.

Work closely with civil, mechanical, electrical and process engineers to deliver a variety of interesting small, medium, and large-scale projects from concept through construction . Qualifications

Here’s what we will need from you;

  • Qualifications : BSc, MSc, BEng, MEng or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Membership : Have a membership/working towards membership of a relevant professional institution (ICE or IStructE).
  • Technical Competence : Possess a range of structural analysis and design experience, particularly in relation to reinforced concrete and steelwork structures.
  • Relevant Experience : Ideally possess wastewater and water infrastructure/ treatment project experience, from concept through construction, although this not essential and development support, training and mentoring can be offered to the right candidate .
  • Communication : Ability to coordinate, liaise and engage with clients and key stakeholders to help achieve a ‘right first time’ approach.
  • Digital Capability : Experience working in a digital delivery environment using BIM and 3D design tools.
