UNIVERSAL BANKER

Job Summary:

The Universal Banker is a highly motivated sales and service professional with advanced knowledge of Provident's products and services. The Universal Banker is responsible for opening new products, processing transactions, cross-selling products and services, and providing exceptional member service. The Universal Banker proactively interacts with current and potential members, and participates in business development and community activities to generate new business. The Universal Banker is successful at consistently achieving individual sales goals and uses available resources to increase business, strengthen member relationships, and increase member loyalty. In addition, they are responsible for providing training, leadership and support to less experienced branch staff. The Universal Banker is a keen problem solver who is comfortable taking the initiative to 'Do What's Right.' The Universal Banker works under the supervision of the Assistant Branch Manager and Branch Manager and performs other duties as directed.

Essential Functions:

Service Excellence

  • Deliver exceptional service to members by embracing our values – Listen, Get Better, and Do What’s Right.
  • Meet service goals for internal and external surveys, including social media posts and public scoring sites such as Yelp and Google Reviews
  • React quickly and uphold organization-wide service standards by working collaboratively across the organization to exceed member expectations.

Operational Excellence

  • Ensure operational excellence by being knowledgeable, engaged, trained, and focused on flawless execution.
  • Perform basic teller functions, including processing deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, and stop payments.
  • Maintain member confidentiality by properly securing and safeguarding member information.
  • Mitigate risk by complying with regulations within policies and procedures.
  • Ensure transactions and data entry fields are free of errors 100% of the time.

Grow the Credit Union

  • Attract and retain members that are highly engaged with Provident and consider us their PFI (primary financial institution).
  • Opens/processes new member accounts and loan applications.
  • Offers Ancillary products.
  • Meet assigned goals and position objectives.
  • Review branch reports to understand branch performance and goal achievement.
  • Champion and participate in effective business development efforts, including community events and volunteer activities.
  • Stay informed and up to date by actively participating in huddles, meetings, and regular communication.

Increase Member Value

  • Increase member value by understanding member preferences, delivering unparalleled convenience and member choice that is fast, flexible, and free of bureaucracy.
  • Understand promotions and provide each member with customized financial solutions.
  • Leverage “localness” by participating in local events (3-5 miles radius) such as community events, volunteer activities, and business network events.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Complete required BSA & OFAC training annually.
  • Understand and adhere to BSA and OFAC policy and procedures.

Education / Work Experience / Skills / Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 1+ years in financial services experience in banking or credit union
  • 1+ years of sales and service experience with proven results.
  • Experience making effective outbound telephone calls.
  • Experience with Real Estate and Consumer Loans.
  • Experience with business banking products and relationships.
  • Experience with cash handling/teller transactions/loan funding.
  • Experience in working in a team environment and developing relationships.
  • Excellent listening and speaking skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Computer literacy skills and proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office.
  • Understand and adhere to BSA and OFAC policy and procedures including:
  • CTR requirements
  • CIP requirements
  • CDD requirements
  • OFAC verification requirements
  • Reporting suspicious activity
  • Maintaining records on negotiable instrument
  • Licenses/Certifications:
  • Notary License, ability to obtain within 120 days of hired.
  • CUNA Certification/FiCEP Financial Counseling Certification to obtain within 120 days of hired.
  • NMLS – National Mortgage Licensing System and Registry to obtain within 90 days of hired.
  • Medallion Stamp Certification to obtain within 120 days of hired.

Travel Details / Schedule:

Travel: 

  • Required to travel to other Provident locations outside of home branch.
  • Required to attend offsite training, meetings, or events.

Work Schedule:

  • Full-time; 40 hours a week Monday - Friday 7:30am - 4:30pm
  • Occasionally work early or late hours, and extended weekend hours.

Compensation:

Pay Grade is P1. This position is eligible for our twice a year discretionary bonus.

Targeted Base Pay: $26.00 - 27.50/hr
