SUMMARY: Sacred Heart High School is creating a new Science Academy STEM Program encompassing TK-12. As a college preparatory school, we recognize STEM education is vital in preparing our students for global competitiveness and economic prosperity.

POSITION OBJECTIVE: Oversee the creation, development, and implementation of a TK-12 STEM Program; create a STEM environment of curriculum and instruction to ensure high school and college readiness; supervise and evaluate the delivery of instruction and building policies and procedures for the purpose of advancing student performance in K-12 STEM.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Performs a variety of administrative and supervisory tasks in overseeing the successful implementation of STEM curriculum and instructional practices.
  • Employee is responsible for providing leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of STEM programming to promote student learning and teacher effectiveness.
  • The STEM administrator is responsible for the development, delivery, implementation, and monitoring of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) curriculum, initiatives, and educational opportunities.
  • The STEM administrator will collaborate with stakeholders in education and the community to organize and promote interdisciplinary STEM activities that are aligned with content-area standards.
  • In addition, the STEM Administrator is responsible for outreach to local community organizations, schools, and businesses to provide enhanced, experiential learning opportunities for all students.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in administration of STEM programs is required.
  • Preferred experience in developing a program is preferred.
  • Master’s Degree in STEM field with extensive course work in education, and 5 to 7 years of teaching experience with program administration experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Thorough knowledge of the California Standard Course of Study as it applies to STEM standards. Considerable knowledge of the current literature, trends, and developments in the field of STEM instruction.
  • Considerable knowledge STEM concepts, including NGSS the principles of supervision, organization, and administration.
  • Skills in counseling and developing staff.
  • Ability to review and evaluate testing results and to develop a plan of action based on conclusions.
  • Ability to select appropriate and effective reading textbooks and other materials.
  • Ability to develop innovative and effective STEM instructional materials.
  • Shift requirements are full-time, Monday through Friday. Additional hours as needed for successful job performance.

Wage Range

The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
