Overview

Under funding from Gavi, the vaccine alliance, Jhpiego is implementing the “Demand, Communities, and Gender: Engaging men as caregivers and supporting successful parenting towards improved immunization outcomes and equitable health services” (“Men’s engagement in immunization”) project in collaboration with ministries of health and other stakeholders in Pakistan.

The project goal is to contribute towards Gavi gender strategy for “increasing understanding of programmatic interventions that overcome gender-related barriers, specifically engaging male caregivers and supporting successful parenting towards improved immunization outcomes and more equitable health services.” Jhpiego seeks to hire a Data Management Officer, based in Islamabad.

This operations research project will include qualitative and quantitative baseline and endline data collection activities, as well as a period of project implementation with regular monitoring activities. The project will be implemented within the two districts of the provinces of Sindh and Balochistan. Online data will be collected through community mobilizer on an online real time data collection application. The data will be stored centrally and will be managed by a skilled and experienced Data Management Officer. The Data Management Officer will play a crucial role in overseeing the entire data lifecycle, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality of the collected information. The candidate’s responsibilities will include designing and maintaining the database. implementing data security measures, and developing protocols for efficient data entry and retrieval. Additionally, the Data Management Officer will collaborate with the community mobilizers to troubleshoot any data collection issues and provide necessary training on the data collection application. Regularly generating comprehensive reports, the Data Management Officer will analyze trends, identify areas for improvement, and present findings to key stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to develop data entry tools and storage database.
  • Create tracking systems for transcriber and MOVs documents.
  • Responsible for qualitative and quantitative database management in Jhpiego defined software, including data entry, cleaning and quality check. Assist the project lead in cleaning and analyzing the data.
  • Support in creating and refining dashboards that will accurately represent field-collected data with graphs and trends.
  • Optimize and identify database performance and troubleshoot issues.
  • Oversee the integration of data from the field teams into centralized database.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and organization standards and enforce data quality standards.
  • Prepare and maintain regular reports on key performance indicators as per the reporting timelines.
  • Review and maintain efficient and effective database backup procedures to enable the provision of successful and accurate backups so that any data can be restored quickly and efficiently.
  • Safeguard and maintain the confidentiality of all generated hard and soft data.
  • Assist in country office team in compiling of evaluation reports.
  • Maintenance of strong relationships with study team data enumerators and CSO monitoring and evaluation staff, to ensure quality of data collection.
  • Attending regular follow-up discussions/meetings with the project teams (In-country and Headquarters).
  • Support in manuscript writing
  • Any other task assigned by supervisor.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s in Public Health/ Epidemiology/ Research or equivalent degree
  • Proven experience of working in Research/ Data Management Officer or similar role.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in data management, data integration tools.
  • Capacity to produce reports, strong understanding of statistical method, M&E processes, data collection and analysis.
  • Proven experience of writing Manuscript, or thesis development
  • Proficiency in MS Office (PowerPoint presentations) and data analysis (quantitative & qualitative).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills.
  • Understanding of data protection and privacy, strong problem solving and analytical skills.
