Position Overview

The Consultant/Sr. Consultant of Investment and Advisory Sales is responsible providing proactive mentoring and sales support to all Waddell & Reed Advisors, via phone, helping drive investment and advisory sales throughout the Firm’s advisor sales force. This individual is responsible for increasing advisory adoption and sales of advisory products, aide in portfolio development and design, advisor training, developing investment sales resources, and overall adoption of the product set and tools available across the enterprise. This individual must possess strong sales, analytical and technical skills, advanced knowledge of general investments, advisory, ETF, and 529 businesses all the while having experience in advisor to advisor engagement. These skills must be combined with a unique ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with advisors in a sales environment.


Market Support and Sales Development

Must possess the knowledge, technical expertise and phone skills to effectively consult with and support advisors on investment and advisory comprehensive case analysis and delivery including:

 Inbound/outbound calls

Analysis, comparison and statistical analysis

Asset allocation and diversification

Risk Management

Dispersion training

MAP, SPA and Navigator implementation

Model strategy recommendation

Financial, investment and insurance planning

Retirement accumulation and distribution planning

Estate planning

Investment and insurance product implementation


Must possess the technical skills necessary to maximize the effectiveness of a wide variety of software applications:

Understand and apply software application knowledge to complex cases

Collaborate effectively with advisors regarding effective product presentation skills

Assist advisors by illustrating and teaching effective use of software applications

Training on all sales programs to drive adoption and usage

Must possess the sales, technical and communication skills required to develop and deliver effective professional training programs and investment planning support through a variety of methods to various target audiences including:

 Live and recorded web-based training

Management teams and other trainers

Divisional/Cluster meetings

Advisors Resource Conference
