Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, Florida.
 
This site is the center for design, development, and rapid prototyping of advanced airborne surveillance and battle management systems critical to our nation’s security. The selected candidate will become an integral member of Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems’ Common Mission Software Team, contributing to the design and development of mission critical software solutions.
 
Essential Functions:
  • Design, develop, documents, tests, and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions
  • Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software
  • Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, and programming techniques and controls
  • Prepares operating instructions
  • Designs and develops compilers and assembler, utility programs, and operating systems
  • Ensure software standards are met

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of experience in software engineering OR
  • Master’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 3 years of experience in software engineering OR
  • PhD degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 0 years of experience in software engineering
  • Demonstrated experience developing software in languages such as C/C++ and Java, utilizing object-oriented analysis and design, and using Linux/Unix and/or Windows for software development
  • An active, in-scope (minimum) Secret level DoD security clearance
 
Preferred Qualifications:
 
  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in computer engineering or computer science
  • Experience with Rhapsody, Eclipse, Atlassian Tools (Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence, Crucible, Bamboo)
  • Experience with Agile software development
  • Preference to work in software/hardware integration and rapid prototyping
  • Experience developing software targeted for Linux
  • Experience using Google Test
  • Experience using Python
  • Experience with software requirement development processes and procedures
  • Experience developing software for production baselines
