Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be within the Aerospace Systems Sector within our Centers of Excellence for Space and Strategic Systems Software and Unmanned Systems Software. This position will be located in Melbourne, Florida.
Essential Functions:
  • Design, development, integration, and testing of software.  
  • Determining user needs; analysis of system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls/documentation.
  • Architecture, designing and development of an advanced system and realizing the concept into a prototype or production system.
  • Performance of moderately complex tasks and ensuring software standards are met. 
  • Collaboration with highly energetic team members on new concepts and then demonstrate to internal/external customers.

Basic Qualification:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 2 years of software engineering  experience OR
  • Master’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university
  • Experience developing software/writing code in C/C++ or Java
  • Position does not require a clearance to start, however it does require the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret level clearance. 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering
  • Experience in Software Test
  • Familiarity with Rhapsody, Eclipse, Atlassian Tools (Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence, Crucible, Bamboo etc..)
  • Familiarity with Agile software development process
  • Experience with Python
  • Eclipse or other integrated development environment (IDE)
  • Knowledge of Linux systems with basic commands
