We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Operations to join our team. The Director of Operations will provide day to day operational support, enabling client facing leadership and staff to focus on their primary purposes of client service, business development and staff development. This position reports to the Senior Managing Director of New England and works closely with the Chief Operating Officer of the CBIZ Accounting and Tax Services and the New England Regions, Tax, Advisory and Attest Leadership team. The role includes working with team members in Providence RI and Boston, MA.

Essential Functions and Primary Duties:

  • Working effectively with leadership as a change agent to drive value, growth, and profitability by supporting the Regional Leadership Senior Managing Director of New England and partnering with New England and National business leaders to develop, execute and promote business strategy that aligns with the overall goals of CBIZ Financial Services.
  • Serve as an advisor providing guidance and recommendations surrounding operational objectives of the region.
  • Participates as key stakeholder on region executive team to drive priorities, communication and initiatives that affect the region and which drive growth, profitability, efficiency, and operational effectiveness
  • Partners with national and regional leadership to provide process oversight of key financial activities and drivers including budgets and forecasts, monthly financials, KPIs and metrics, client onboarding, account planning process, billing and collections, write downs and reserves, expense control and compliance with SOX requirements.
  • Operations lead for Boston and Providence locations and ability to lead multi-office and hybrid personnel.
  • Drives and/or enables solutions to drive process standardization and automation; enables implementation on technology/AI solutions.
  • Ensures the alignment of primary operational support functions such as Tax Operations, Attest Operations, Resource Management, Marketing, IT, Finance, HR, Facilities and office operations across the region. Ensures optimization and coordination of priorities and efforts.
  • Engages leadership to understand the strategy, initiatives and related goals that have been set and to establish controls to monitor progress on these goals.
  • Designs and implements administrative support teams, processes and systems, including staffing requirements, and directs the workflow of the administrative staff ensuring effective delivery of services.
  • Participates in national working groups with peers related to process improvements, standard practices and new policies, processes, systems and initiatives.
  • Collaborates with regional leadership, National COO, Human Resources and National Recruiting related to forecasting and fulfillment of staffing needs to include recruiting, offshoring and outsourcing.
  • Partners with regional HR leaders to drive goal setting, feedback process, review processes and other performance management activities.
  • Liaises with Legal and Risk Management as needed.
  • Serves as Project Manager for and/or owner of key initiatives determined by business unit or national leadership.
  • Experience managing major office renovations including coordinating with designers and contractors a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7- 10 years of relevant experience, preferably in Professional Services with significant experience leading teams in multiple geographies
  • Experience with managing a diverse team in terms of experience, education, and life-experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of business principles such as finance, marketing and strategy using this knowledge to make decisions that benefit CBIZ.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Possesses both strategic thinking capability and “hands-on” operational implementation experience.
  • Ability to successfully work under pressure and handle multiple high-priority matters.
  • Ability to work in both Providence, RI and Boston, MA.
  • Desire to work in the Office a minimum of 4 days per week.
  • Demonstrated ability in influence without authority, negotiation, conflict and problem resolution.
  • Must be able to travel based on client and business needs.

Minimum Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of managing sophisticated client service staff
  • Ability to develop and implement operating plans aligned with budget.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of organization, both internally and externally
  • Must be able to travel based on client and business needs.

The annual salary target for this job in this market is $150,000-$300,000. The specific compensation for this role will be determined based on the education, experience, and skill set of the individual selected for this position.
