Aftermarket Quality Engineer (EMFAS)

Exotic Metals Forming Aircraft Services is a FAA, EASA and CAAC approved repair station. We have experienced tremendous growth and need the right individuals to support this work and keep our business expansion going.

Functions and Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance to all applicable aviation authority requirements (e.g., FAA Part 145), and EMFCO quality system requirements
  • Utilize CMM’s, ESM’s, SRM’s and other approved repair data to:

o Estimate repair cost and lead time in support of quotations to customers

o Identify, prior to quoting; tooling, outside processing/subcontract, and sources for all materials needed for the repair

o Create manufacturing work orders utilized to direct work on the shop floor

o Work with shop technicians to solve problems which arise in the course of the repair and identify compliant modifications to allow completion

o Coordinate with Aircraft Services Production Control and Purchasing to prioritize shop load and receipt of replacement components

o Approve process critical steps as the work order progresses

o Issue return to service tags for repaired components (FAA, EASA, CAAC)

  • Review customer order requirements and assemble required documentation to accompany shipments.
  • Create and perform First Article Inspections.
  • Engineering degree preferred, but equivalent knowledge will be considered.
  • Can read and comprehend blueprints, including geometric tolerances and customer specification documents.
  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing environment (i.e., familiar with the quality system requirements for that industry) is a plus.
  • Effectively interact with all levels of personnel, from shop employees to customer management both internally and externally.
  • Ideal candidate is hands-on, has strong mechanical aptitude and enjoys building things.
  • Working knowledge of FAA Part 145 regulations is desired but not required.
  • Successful in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Use of ERP system (MAPICS preferred) is preferred.

Skills, Education and Required Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Prefer 2 years of quality assurance experience.
  • Read and understand drawings, including geometric tolerancing.
  • Fully proficient in developing Quality Plans, Monitoring Quality Performance, and implementing Corrective/Preventative Actions, and Interface with Customer and Third-Party Auditors.
  • Proficient at problem solving and working with Customer/FAA specifications and quality requirements.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to work with all levels of internal and external personnel.
  • Hands-on with strong mechanical aptitude, and capable of successfully balancing both the technical and administrative aspects of the position.

Physical Requirements

Sit, stand and/or walk for 8 hours per day. Occasionally lift items that could be up to 25 pounds.

Working Conditions

Use of protective clothing, goggles, helmets with protective lenses, and other equipment to prevent burns and eye injuries.

The wage range for this role considers allowances for several factors, including but not limited to required experience, skill level, prior training, licensure/certifications, education and other business needs. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $68,460-$114,101.
