What to Expect

We are seeking a Controls and Instrumentation Field Intern to join our team. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced professionals in the field to assist with commissioning activities related to control and instrumentation systems in various projects. This is a hands-on role that requires technical expertise and a strong willingness to learn. The ideal candidate should be able to work in a team environment, communicate effectively, and have a strong attention to detail.

Project:

During the 6-month internship, the Controls and Instrumentation Field Intern will be responsible for completing a small project related to the commissioning of control and instrumentation systems. The project will involve conducting functional testing, calibration, and verification activities on a specific control and instrumentation system in a project. The intern will be required to prepare a report documenting the commissioning process and any issues encountered, as well as recommendations for corrective actions. The project will provide the intern with hands-on experience and the opportunity to apply their technical knowledge to a real-world scenario.

What You’ll Do

  • Assist with the commissioning of control and instrumentation systems such as PLCs, DCSs, SCADA, HMI, and instrumentation devices.
  • Conduct functional testing, calibration, troubleshooting, and system verification activities under the supervision of experienced professionals.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation related to the commissioning process, including testing reports, CxAlloy checklist, deficiency lists, and final reports.
  • Communicate with project stakeholders to ensure that commissioning activities are completed in a timely and effective manner.
  • Participate in safety training and adhere to safety protocols and guidelines.

What You’ll Bring

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with control and instrumentation systems and equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of control and instrumentation standards and protocols.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
