Job Summary:

The Analytics Analyst II will partner with multiple customers across the Enterprise to provide more complex resolutions to analytics/data problems (i.e. descriptive statics, T testing, etc.) which require a study of situational factors, gathering information from several sources, and will provide reporting/analytic deliverables (i.e. tables, graphs, recommendations, etc.) in a consultative manner. Incumbent will confirm understanding of recommendation with customer, and determine business-focused deliverables following the consultative analytics workflow.

  • Review business requirements and define parameters of more complex analytic projects (i.e. linear models, Tableau visualization) for customers across the enterprise. The analyst will settle deliverables and deadlines with the customer, beginning to use negotiation and creativity in consultation with management wherever necessary.
  • Research and investigate key business problems through quantitative analyses of healthcare cost and quality data. Manage all aspects of data preparation, analysis, and interpretation in order to meet customer deliverable. Provide clear, concise and efficient summary analysis to customer
  • Compiles complex data sets and simplify/tailor according to audience delivering analyses to. Evaluates and processes raw data for user friendly and provides actionable insight (visual and otherwise) to end users.
  • Demonstrates keen judgment on involved and complex assignments; devises methods and procedures to meet unusual conditions and makes original contributions to the solution of very difficult problems.
  • Prepares, develops, analyzes, shapes and delivers reports in an accurate and timely manner that ‘tell a story’ including but not limited to health plan cost and utilization trends, monitoring effectiveness of care management programs, clinical variation and data mining to find potential opportunities to better control costs and utilization, as needed.
  • Utilizes all relevant and available tools that optimize reporting efficiency for consumption by business partners and/or provides the business partners the user-friendly tools to run repetitive reports self-service.
  • Builds collaborative relationship across functional teams and other analytic teams across the organization.
  • Follow department policies and procedures to ensure consistent utilization and cost reporting. Employs appropriate techniques to ensure data and result integrity. Maintains a high standard of compliance with all Horizon policies and regulations including data security.
  • Document work appropriately, including use of Analytic Plan/Timeline template for Analytic projects as appropriate.
  • Performs other functions as assigned by management.

Education:

HSD or GED Required. Bachelor’s degree in Quantitative Field (i.e. Analytics, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, actuarial science, etc.) preferred or relevant work experience in lieu of degree preferred Master’s Degree with at least two years of statistical analysis preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of experience using statistical concepts and tools Demonstrated expertise in relational database concepts. Demonstrates advanced statistical capabilities, data mining, forecasting and predictive modeling skills, and/or actuarial techniques. Demonstrated skills in quality principles especially root cause analysis and problem solving. Demonstrated business and technical problem-solving skills.

Extensive experience in analytic tools required (i.e. SAS, Snowflake, Python, R, Alation, Informatica, or others).

Knowledge:

Candidates with general health care knowledge preferred. Proficiency required in any of the following market leading data & analytic tools but not limited to: SAS, Snowflake, Python, R, Alation, Informatica or similar. Requires proficiency in MS Office (particularly Excel including formulas, calculations and graphs).

Skills and Abilities:

Requires analytical thinking ability. Good written and verbal communication skills are essential. Ability to express analytic thoughts clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing is required. Salary Range:

$94,900 - $129,570

This compensation range is specific to the job level and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. This range has been created in good faith based on information known to Horizon at the time of posting. Compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case.
