Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare specifications for projects in the area of metallurgy, corrosion, and welding under the direction of a Lead Materials / Corrosion Engineer.
  • Assist in generating Material Selection Diagrams (MSDs) and Material Selection Tables (MSTs) under the direction of a Lead Materials / Corrosion Engineer.
  • Assist in the review and verification of bid and requisition packages, vendor data submittals, specifications, mechanical data sheets, heat treatment procedures, and welding procedures under the direction of a Lead Materials / Corrosion Engineer.
  • Assist with fabrication problems and fitness for service issues under the direction of a Lead Materials / Corrosion Engineer.
  • Assist in specifying repair methods in conjunction with non-metallic problem resolution and troubleshooting of fabricated equipment, piping and structural steel under the direction of a Lead Materials / Corrosion Engineer.

Training and Experience

  • BS or MS in Materials or Metallurgy Engineering.
  • Aware of non-metallics to include coatings, insulation, fireproofing, refractory, plastics and elastomers as they apply to refining, chemical and petrochemical environments.
  • Aware of the commonly used arc welding processes and their limitations, including SMAW, GTAW (TIG), GMAW (MIG), FCAW, and SAW.
  • MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Other Essential Functions

  • Keen safety awareness.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Operates extremely well in a multi-company team environment.
