Position Overview:

As an Senior Operational Performance Data Specialist, you will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data for the Client Service Delivery organization’s performance and metrics. You will also identify opportunities to leverage business analytics across operations. Your insights will guide strategic decisions, identify and monitor efficiency opportunities and help drive business growth.

Responsibilities:

Data Collection and Preparation:

  • Gather relevant data from various sources, including databases, spreadsheets, and external APIs
  • Clean and preprocess data to ensure accuracy and consistency

Data Analysis:

  • Perform in-depth analysis of operational performance & capacity metrics, including but not limited to revenue, profitability, risk exposure, and operational efficiency
  • Identify trends, anomalies, and areas of improvement through statistical and data mining techniques
  • Proactively identify opportunities throughout operations to develop new dashboards to enhance controls and identify improvement opportunities
  • Promote awareness of data visualisation capabilities across operations

Reporting and Visualization:

  • Create informative and visually appealing dashboards, reports, and presentations to communicate findings to stakeholders
  • Develop automated reporting systems to streamline data delivery and management

Performance Monitoring:

  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and track progress towards strategic goals
  • Provide regular updates to management on performance trends and potential areas of concern

Data Interpretation:

  • Translate data insights into actionable recommendations for decision-makers
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement data-driven solutions
  • Provide insight and recommendations to senior leaders through the use of data

Continuous Learning:

  • Stay up-to-date with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and trends in data analytics

Qualifications:

Specific Knowledge & Skills (not preferred or an asset)

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Finance, Economics, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
  • 2+ years proven experience in data analysis, preferably in a financial institution or related industry
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, SQL, and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work independently
  • Knowledge of financial concepts and CIBC Mellon’s products
  • Familiarity with machine learning techniques and predictive analytics
