Assistant Athletic Director for Academic Services

Under the general supervision of the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Student Services, serves as the athletic program's Chief Academic Officer responsible for developing, implementing, overseeing and evaluating the overall academic services offered to approximately 800 student-athletes. This position will be responsible for oversight of all academic services staff members and will serve as a liaison to the Athletic Board's Academic Affairs Committee. Other responsibilities will include: serve as a liaison to the Office of Admissions and the Office of the Registrar and assume responsibility for the coordination of all reviews for prospective student-athletes; work closely with sports administrators and compliance staff to ensure that all student-athletes are 1) meeting NCAA, Big Ten and institutional academic criteria in order to remain academically eligible and progress toward a degree and 2) maximizing their academic potential, and all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree is required. Master’s degree is preferred. A minimum of five (5) years of Athletic Academic Services administrative experience including the supervision of support staff is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with prior academic services work experience at the Division I-A level. Candidate must possess an understanding of NCAA and conference rules, strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work in a dynamic, diverse work environment. Other qualifications include the ability to work cooperatively with diverse groups and administrators, faculty, staff and students. The successful applicant must be able to develop and implement innovative approaches and solutions; work well independently and in teams; and be flexible in accepting new responsibilities.

Conditions of employment: This is a Limited appointment. Salary will be assigned within the appropriate range, commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. An excellent benefits package is also included.
