Role Description: As a Senior Accountant, you will be primarily responsible for assisting in the global monthly revenue close process, including the analysis on accounts receivable and preparation of the allowance for credit losses. Revenue close responsibilities include preparation of (i) monthly journal entries, (ii) account reconciliations, and (iii) variance analyses related to the monthly results. This position will also collaborate with the Financial Planning and Analysis, Billings, Cash collections and Revenue Service teams to assist in the monthly close process and to understand fluctuations from budget and forecast.

The Senior Accountant should have a general knowledge Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (“GAAP”) and experience (i) working within a monthly close process, (ii) preparing journal entries and account reconciliations, (iii) identifying and improving monthly processes. The Senior Accountant should be eager to learn and demonstrate strong communication, time management and organizational skills. This person should be highly adaptable to change due to Costar’s rapid growth via organic growth and acquisitions. The Senior Accountant will have a strong work ethic and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. This position will report to the Director of Revenue.

This position may get exposure to technical accounting issues and interactions with external auditors related to the close process, account reconciliations and variance analyses.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of monthly journal entries and supporting schedules and review of monthly financial results.
  • Accounts receivable analysis and preparation of the allowance for credit losses.
  • Assistance in a variety of aspects of the Enterprise Resource Planning system implementation.
  • Assistance with special projects within department or as part of cross-functional teams.
  • Research technical accounting issues.
  • Work with external auditors and facilitate review of the close process, account reconciliations and variance analyses.
  • Ensure timely monthly close and accurate monthly results.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance from an accredited, not-for-profit University or College.
  • A track record of commitment to prior employers.
  • CPA or CPA candidate.
  • 3+ year’s accounting experience working in a large international public company and/or Big 4 accounting firm
  • Experience preparing or reviewing monthly journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Process implementation experience.
  • Strong project management, time management, and organizational skills.
  • General knowledge of GAAP guidelines and ability to enhance knowledge and apply to a variety of situations.
  • Familiarity with systems and optimizing use of systems to generate data for analyses.
  • Strong Excel skills required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Oracle ERP a plus.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of ASC 606 a plus.
