Your new role

Join our dynamic Indirect Procurement team at our Sydney CBD office! We are seeking a proactive and commercially knowledgeable Junior Category Manager to drive end-to-end procurement excellence, utilising your expertise to analyse spend data, craft and manage contracts, and collaborate with cross-functional teams for cost-saving opportunities and business optimisation.

As a Junior Category Manager, you will report to the Senior Category Manager of the Property Facilities and Office Services categories and will play a key role in overseeing these spend categories and suppliers across Australia and New Zealand. Your responsibilities will include relationship management, performance reporting, and supporting category initiatives with best-in-class sourcing and procurement techniques. Take the lead in procurement projects, working closely with Business Units and the Senior Category Manager, and champion contract management and compliance.

  • Assist with end-to-end procurement processes to deliver value across the Property, Facilities and Office Services categories including delivering commercial benefits/savings against specific targets.
  • Conduct data/spend analysis in support of procurement projects to identify spend patterns and assist with initiative identification and development.
  • Develop reporting insights from spend and supplier data to support management of suppliers.
  • Assist the Senior Category Manager in the development of Category Management Plans and Strategies.
  • Support with strategic sourcing initiatives and lead sourcing initiatives using structured and consistent approaches by close collaboration with the Senior Category Manager and respective Business Units.
  • Perform contract management activities for the Property, Facilities and Office Services category. Responsibilities include ensuring contract management, contract compliance and ensuring all contracts are stored in QBE’s centralised contracts repository.

About you

As a high performing and naturally curious category management professional, you will have the following attributes and experience:

  • Knowledge of some or all standard procurement practices such as sourcing, negotiation, contract management, cost control and business case development presentation.
  • Enthusiasm and an ability to learn and adapt quickly to a variety of projects and specific tasks.
  • Financial modelling and data analysis skills.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Project management/change management skills.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (e.g. procurement, commerce, business).
