Operations Manager, Pitchfork Live Events

Pitchfork is expanding its event and festival business, and is looking to add quickly to a growing staff! We’re looking for people with a variety of creative interests, an ability to work quickly and collaboratively, and an ability to remain calm under pressure.

Pitchfork is looking for an Operations Manager to reinforce and develop processes and systems in its events department. The right candidate will play an integral role in the future expansion of Pitchfork’s events business. This role stands at the center of the events department, supporting and communicating everybody’s needs, and stands as the first point of contact for many matters. This position is based in Chicago and reports to the Director of Operations.

Responsibilities

Manage a variety of ticketing processes and reporting, from assessing ticket vendor proposals to managing ticket allotments. Own the guest list for dozens of Pitchfork events, including process, communication, and workflow. Assist in building financial projections, P&Ls for events, payment schedules for talent and vendors, and more detail-oriented analyses for a wide variety of reporting and research purposes. Work with finance teams to ensure proper revenue and cost reporting, as well as billing. Manage a pipeline of contracts from a variety of vendors and third parties, working with the legal department and key stakeholders to see contracts through. Responsible for attending weekly meetings, and recapping key takeaways for the events team. Be prepared to help on disparate tasks as needed, including music licensing, merch logistics, tracking and requesting COIs, exploring festival costs, creating project timelines, and myriad other tasks.

Qualifications

2+ years working in a financial or operational role Experience and comfort with Excel and Google Sheets Experience working with contracts and legal departments Strong communication skills An ability to work independently, and prioritize based on team goals/deadlines Live music or events industry experience is a plus but not required Must like music
