Senior Data Engineer for Procurement & Supply Chain Analytics - Full Time - Madrid, Spain

In this position, you will be responsible for the design and implementation of reusable and optimized end-to-end data pipelines partnering with internal technical and business stakeholders. You will work closely with the business teams to gather functional requirements, develop data models & design proposals, implement, and test solutions

Your main tasks and responsibilities will be:

  • Support leadership in managing internal and external resources and overseeing larger implementation projects
  • Identifying required data sources based on business requirements, knowledge of business processes and systems used
  • Creating data ingestion pipelines from source systems (ERP or cloud SaaS solutions) into a central data warehouse (snowflake)
  • Designing and implementing data transformation pipelines within the data warehouse to a target data model, consumable by BI reporting applications
  • Defining a reusable and robust data model (star/snowflake schema)
  • Further improving and extending a common data integration framework
  • Debugging and optimization of existing pipelines
  • Automating testing procedures to ensure proper data quality

What you bring to Sulzer:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Engineering, Data Science, Data Engineering or similar field
  • 4+ years hands-on experience around:

o Data Management (DWH and Data Lake architectures with snowflake, Azure Data Lake Store) o Data Modeling (e.g. Inmon, Kimball, Data Vault etc.)

o ETL/ELT design (with tools such as dbt, Talend etc.)

o Data Ingestion & Processing (Azure Data Factory, Functions / Batch Ingestion, Stream Analytics, API Management)

o DevOps (Continuous Integration / Delivery, testing automation, Azure DevOps, Git(-hub) • Experience in the following fields will be considered as strong assets:

o Proven track record in partnering with the business to extract value from data

o Working with data ingested from systems such as SAP (ECC or S4), Microsoft Dynamics 365, Salesforce, ideally in the area of Materials Management (Procurement) and Finance (especially Networking Capital)

  • Project Management skills, PM certification or ITSM/ITIL are a big plus
  • Experience working with agile methodologies such as Scrum, SAFe etc. 
  • Big-picture thinker with positive attitude while maintaining an attention to detail
  • Effective communicator on all levels from subject matter expert to executive level
  • Strong track record of delivering results in a global matrix organization
