SUMMARY

The Senior System and Network Administrator will be responsible for overseeing the security, installation, configuration, maintenance, integrity, and troubleshooting of hardware, software, and network systems throughout the organization. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing server and network infrastructures, ensuring the smooth deployment of new applications and hardware solutions as his/her primary objective is to ensure the reliability, security, and optimal performance of the organization’s IT infrastructure, enabling seamless operations and productivity. The incumbent will perform systems maintenance tasks, such as system back-up, recovery, and file maintenance to promote uptime and efficient performance. In addition, he/she will acquire, install, and test system software upgrades and computer components. The incumbent will configure software and resolve technical problems. Additionally, the incumbent will maintain documentation of IT infrastructure, and troubleshooting procedures and participate in organizational and department projects. He/She also plays a lead role in enhancing the architecture and security of all Credit Union systems and for producing necessary documentation in support of these responsibilities. All IT employees deliver front-line service desk support and tasks in addition to their other duties.

  • Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in information technology and a range of 6-8 years of related experience, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.Demonstrated leadership roles in previous positions required.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: One or more of the following certifications is required. Comparable alternatives from other vendors will be considered: MCSA, MCSE, VCP, VCAP, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, CISSP, ITIL, CISM, PCNSE, CCNA RS, CCNA Security, GSEC
  • Geographical Location: This position may be eligible for a flexible work arrangement. Individuals working in this position must be located within the state of California.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Managing and maintaining the organization’s computer systems, servers, network devices, firewalls, and storage infrastructure
  • Implementing and maintaining robust security measures to safeguard the organization’s systems, data, and networks against unauthorized access, cyber threats, and vulnerabilities.
  • Monitor performance of local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), network security, internet connectivity, servers, software, and hardware
  • Installing, configuring, modifying, troubleshooting, and/or managing Windows 2016/2022-based servers. Responsibilities include setup and configuration of Active Directory, Group Policy, Server Monitoring, Services, Replication, Trust Relationships, Certificates, Permissions, and other applications related to or embedded inside the Windows Server operating system.
  • Ensure the smooth deployment of new applications, systems, and network devices.
  • Setting up, configuring, troubleshooting, and/or managing multi-OU Windows-based network LAN/WAN. Responsibilities include utilization of Avamar Server Backup, monitoring network and server performance, and other troubleshooting and management tools.
  • Setting and modifying file server security and permissions, creating secure file shares, managing file server capacity, deploying network printers, troubleshooting connectivity errors between servers and workstations
  • Maintaining monitoring solutions. Verifying the integrity and availability of all computing resources, systems, and key processes. Reviewing system and application logs and verifying completion of scheduled tasks such as backups.
  • Develop and implement IT policies and procedures.
  • Developing, maintaining, and updating documentation of IT systems, configurations, processes, and procedures. This includes preparing reports on system performance, incidents, and upgrades, and providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Working with and managing third-party support and service vendors.
  • Providing support for users. Investigating and troubleshooting issues proactively. Responding courteously and professionally to users’ IT-related requests for assistance or questions as submitted to the ticketing system, phone calls, and walk-ins.
  • Providing technical support and training to users on best practices for system usage and security protocols
  • Collaborating with other IT professionals to ensure optimal performance of the IT infrastructure.
  • Applying OS patches to PCs and servers on a regular basis and upgrading administrative tools and utilities.
  • Ensuring all devices are properly configured with Anti-Virus software.
  • Maintaining operational, configuration, or other procedures in Wiki
  • Performing ongoing capacity planning, performance tuning, hardware upgrades, resource optimization, and routine reporting.
  • Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions.
  • Maintaining and managing VMware environment to ensure that software and hardware are maintained and up to date.
  • Providing timely Service Desk support to users, follow-up, and resolution to fellow team members and support vendors. Being proactive in driving resolution to completion.
  • Training and mentoring junior system and network administrators.
  • Develop and maintain standards/ procedures, security requirements, software configuration, and other application support as needed.
  • Working knowledge of telephony technologies that include Cloud base PBX, voicemail, IVR and SIP Trunks
  • Maintains system integrity and connectivity on promise/cloud PBX and integration including Voicemail, IVR, and SIP trunks.
  • Working knowledge of telecom data circuits and their integration with networking components
  • Working knowledge in routing technology including Cisco router and routing protocols such as EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, RIP
  • Working knowledge of networking protocols and technologies such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN
  • Working knowledge of switching technology including Cisco standalone switches, switch stacks, core configurations, spanning tree protocol, and security configurations.
  • Performing other related duties as required and assigned to facilitate the operations of the department.

  • Experience working with Office 365 in a Hybrid environment.
  • Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Experience with Virtualization technologies, such as VMware and Hyper-V
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms, such as AWS and Azure
  • Strong VMware knowledge for deploying and maintaining a virtual environment.
  • Forward-thinking with high standards and appropriate professional decorum
  • Strong Time Management Skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities in an efficient and effective manner.
