Fortrea is seeking a US Benefits Leader with extensive knowledge and experience in leading and driving US benefits strategy and end-to-end delivery. The Senior Director, US Benefits is responsible for strategy, design, operational delivery and team leadership for US benefits. Programs include health and welfare, retirement, time off, disability, life and accident insurance, and all other voluntary benefits available to US employees. This role is accountable to lead and drive how we deliver our US benefit programs in an operationally effective, financially prudent, legally compliant, competitive, and innovative way. 

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Management of all benefit plans and associated provider relationships (e.g., 401(k) and Fidelity, Health Insurance and Cigna).
  • Scope of Plans: Health & Welfare (medical, dental, life, disability); Retirement/Savings (401(k), defined contribution/benefit pension schemes, 529 Plans); Stock (ESPP); and other programs (EAP, Voluntary Benefits, Financial Empowerment Services).
  • Communicate and negotiate with various benefits providers to identify vendors and benefits packages that are suitable for our employees and cost-effective for the business
  • Management of 3-4 direct reports (all exempt benefit professionals).
  • Approve any claim appeal decisions.
  • Approve all provider premium statements/payments. Partner with Sourcing and Finance to ensure all benefit payments are made on time and in compliance with contractual terms.
  • Oversee all employee communications with regards to benefits programs.
  • Maintain dialogue and relationships with HR Generalists, including developing and delivering “train the train” material and sessions.
  • Ensure that all our benefits programs comply with relevant state and federal regulations
  • Provide first hand support to executive leadership based in US for their pension and benefits related queries.
  • Participate and lead ad-hoc projects related benefits and other cross-functional initiatives including but not limited to M&As globally.
  • Responsible for overall Benefits strategy and operations for US and all other duties as needed or assigned

Qualifications (Minimum Required):

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a similar field (Preferred)
  • Advanced business degree and/or Compensation and/or Benefits designation (Preferred)
  • Strong program and vendor performance management, cost benefit analysis and budget management experience.
  • Passionate customer service orientation
  • Visionary and strategic leadership
  • Demonstrated business, financial, and HR acumen with strong project management capability, deep analytical ability, and creative problem-solving skills
  • High tolerance for change and ability to adapt quickly
  • Strong expertise in regulations and laws that apply to US benefit plans and thorough knowledge of how the benefits function operate and impacts the business
  • Fortrea may consider relevant and equivalent experience in lieu of educational requirements

Experience (Minimum Required): 

  • Minimum 10+ years of US Benefits Experience.
  • Broad-based Benefits experience (i.e., equity, welfare and/or qualified plans).
  • Supervisory experience of minimum 5+ years.
  • Strong knowledge of WorkDay (or comparable HRMS). Integrations of HRMS with Benefits vendor systems and payroll processes linked.
  • Broad based compensation experience.

Pay Range: $185,000-$200,000 USD base annual salary

Benefits: All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data. Regular, full-time or part-time employees working 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(K), ESPP, Paid time off (PTO) or Flexible time off (FTO), Company bonus where applicable.
