The Senior Supply Chain Manager will manage one or more customer accounts and execute the day to day operations which have Penske-wide implications and impact. The position will be the primary operational and strategic account owner as viewed by both Penske and Customer. This position will provide tactical direction and leadership to Supply Chain Managers and staff to ensure customer requirements are met. Ensure all inventory and material discrepancies are resolved quickly and accurately to meet expected lead times. Create and foster a relationship with the customer’s Senior managers to facilitate operational stability and vertical growth. 

This position is located onsite at the GM Plant in Warren, MI. Candidate must be willing to work 3 days onsite with an expectation that there could be a need to work 5 days (M-F) onsite. 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Drive continuous improvement for all groups, including both customer and Penske processes. Understand the strategic needs and align resources to develop solutions. Review operating metrics and fixes out-of-tolerance results. Look for opportunities to grow existing operation.
  • Responsible for day-to-day execution of all account activities. Monitors key metrics to optimize value delivered to the customer. Quickly resolve any operations issues to reduce backorders and lead time & communicate with customer. Provide leadership to team members in identifying project risks early and guide them in developing appropriate mitigation plans. 
  • Create and administer training and development plans for Supply Chain Supervisors as well as high performing staff members. Ensure team has a strong focus on details and is thoroughly trained in the problem resolution process. Drive consistency across all operations, including individual and operational performance standards. 
  • Understand how customer, supplier and vendor work together and affect overall supply chain performance. Recommend vendors and suppliers necessary to deploy logistics solution. Create and foster a relationship with the customer's logistics manager to facilitate operational stability. Manage the clients' expectations regarding our team's satisfactory performance & service execution.
  • Interview and select salaried and hourly associates up to and including Supply Chain Managers. Ensure each associate understands their individual role and responsibilities, as well as the group's role and responsibilities required to achieve and maintain a safe workplace. Conduct performance review, corrective action, and goal setting for team of salaried and hourly employees. 
  • Provide career development, mentoring and promotional opportunities to direct reports to create future leaders. 
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies and company policies and procedures. Stay current on the customer's industry, bringing fresh thinking to institutionalized processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
  • Concentration in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or equivalent referred
  • 5 years of functional experience in multiple supply chain service lines (transportation, warehousing, LLP, etc.)
  • 3 years of managerial or supervisory experience
  • Analysis and design experience
  • Engineering and IT awareness, including supply chain modeling
  • Multiple supply chain service line experience (Transportation, Warehousing, LLP, etc)
  • A strong understanding of operations and supporting technology, especially web based applications
  • Knowledge of Transportation Management and systems
  • A strong understanding of operations and supporting technology, especially web based applications.
  • Must be able to work with other departments to increase overall productivity for the company
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with a sense of urgency while maintaining a high degree of accuracy 
  • Ability to meet & exceed weekly and monthly performance goals.
  • Successful track record of building relationships with stakeholders or customers that have resulted in high customer satisfaction.
  • Problem Solving / Process Improvement
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills, written/oral communication and organizational skills.
  • Skill in the operation of MS Office software programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
