The Test Analyst role at its core endeavors to undertake hands-on assurance activities that demonstrates outcomes and effectiveness of ServiceNow solutions in alignment to customer requirements.

With key focus on development and execution of test scripts, and logging & tracking of defects, the function performed by the Test Analyst will play a key role in ensuring customer solutions are delivered to the highest of quality with thorough understanding of technical & business landscape and execution of the Test Management Plan.

Role Context

Success in the role is underpinned by strong understanding of ServiceNow platform and strong analytical capability to visualise positive & negative test cases that different personas can encounter.

The Person

  • At least 2-4 years experience in a test role within IT Service Management (ITSM)
  • Strong knowledge in testing involving the entire Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Defect Management and proven experience in using test management tools.
  • Proven ability to develop, review and execute complex test cases based on the business requirements.
  • Proven experience managing multiple tasks in a busy environment
  • Demonstrated ability contributing to project initiatives utilising various project methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.)
  • Experience working with ServiceNow and/or other ITSM applications
  • Experience working with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
  • Experience in designing and developing automated tests and frameworks
  • Ability to provide accurate estimations for testing effort
  • Experience with ITSM tools and processes.
  • High level of written and oral communications skills, with a confident, personable and professional manner.
  • Understanding of various project delivery models – Agile, Waterfall, DevOps.
  • High level of analytical thinking to identify positive and negative scenarios for business requirements.
  • Ability to design, build, review and execution of test cases for ServiceNow or similar ITSM platforms.
  • Ability to deliver high quality test summary reports, and also support customers during UAT.
  • Identifying test cases and their execution for post-production verification and future regression testing of the solution.
  • Can identify, build and execute automated testing to introduce efficiencies and speed up regression testing efforts.
  • Aptitude to understand and align to customer testing frameworks

Key Aspects

  • Develop a strong understanding of our customers both internal and external to the organisation.
  • Consult to understand customer needs and quality assurance requirements

  • Support and contribute to best practice Test Management approaches to underpin high quality solutions
  • Contribute to customer facing artefacts, write and execute test scenarios and scripts to provide confidence in AC3 delivery
  • Producing reporting and proactive communication to customers for testing deliverables
  • Test management, execution and project delivery
  • Interpret, understand and validate system requirements for new and existing ServiceNow solutions
  • Work closely with the Development, Business analysts & engagement team to derive and interpret complex use cases, user stories & acceptance criteria in order to create the appropriate test plans and test cases.
  • Develop test plans, test cases and manual & automated test scripts that adheres to the technical and business requirements.
  • Participate in meetings with user groups and workshops to understand testing needs
  • Undertake and coordinate System Testing, System Integration Testing, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and Post Verification Testing to underpin technical delivery
  • Execute complex white box & black box functional, system & regression tests and document the overall results.
  • Categorize, track & triage new & existing defects for resolution and coordinate with the development team for an effective resolution along with recommendation for future releases
  • Provide appropriate test metrics around the results of executed tests
  • React well to changes, work with teams and ability to multi-task on multiple products / projects.
  • Provide release readiness recommendations based on test execution and defect metrics
  • Support creation of re-useable testing artefacts to encourage high quality delivery
  • Provide subject matter knowledge on ServiceNow or other relevant Product capability for our customers during engagements.
  • Contribute to the validation of working prototype solutions with the ServiceNow Engineering Team
  • Demonstrate knowledge of products through the ability to accurately explain core system functionality, module capability, configured functionality or customisation, and limitations as required.
  • Engage and consult closely with engineering teams for technical verification as required.
  • Act as a trusted intermediary between AC3 Teams as the Testing Lifecycle is undertaken
