Job Title: Full Stack Engineer – New York Life Ventures R&D Lab, New York Life
We are looking for a Full Stack Engineer who possesses a passion for pushing web technologies to the limits and will work with our team of talented engineers to design and build the next generation of Insurance applications in the cloud. You will be responsible for the development and maintenance of cloud applications aimed at revolutionizing the Insurance industry. You will be working alongside other engineers and developers working on different layers (data/app/presentation layers) of the application. Therefore, a commitment to collaborative problem solving, sophisticated design, and the creation of quality products is essential.

Duties & Responsibilities
Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work with product owners and team members to build industry-leading solutions
Participate as a team member in planning the architecture and development of solutions
Design and build the next-generation of Insurance applications in the cloud
Research and identify best practices both from an architecture, data & security perspective
Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications
Troubleshoot issues and work with team to identify and address problems
Participate in SCRUM teams working on bi-weekly sprints and ensure on time delivery with high quality
Participating fully in the development process through the entire software lifecycle
Create and maintain project documents and artifacts to capture current state
Basic Qualifications / Requirements
BS in Computer Science or equivalent. Master’s degree in CS/related field strongly preferred
2+ years of industry experience as a software engineer/developer
Solid understanding of agile application development methodologies and release management activities
Contribute to the team’s ability to make and deliver on their commitments
Ability to clearly communicate to both technical and business teams
Broad knowledge in web-based application development using modern tools and technology
Experience with Angular.js/React.js frameworks
Knowledge of responsive CSS, the box model, semantic markup, and HTML5 highly preferred
Demonstrate concern for application-side security models, client-side app hardening, XSRF, etc.
Confident with backend languages and frameworks like Python/Node/Java
Experience in building and consuming REST-ful web services
Experience with RDBMS like PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MySQL
Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools: Luigi, Airflow, etc. is highly preferred
Experience with ETL processes is a strong plus
Ability to write just enough documentation
Fluent with commonly used services on AWS
Experience using Atlassian tool sets: Jira, Confluence
Experience with Test Driven Development methodology
Strong analytical skills and analytical thinking is needed
Amazon Web Services certified candidates would be preferred
