Job Overview

The Director Hubbell Utility Solutions (HUS) Program Management Office (PMO) and Technology Process and Tools is responsible for leading the development of market leading products, driving improvements in engineering process, and champion standardization of tools as appropriate.

This position plays a pivotal role in driving organizational success by overseeing and optimizing our engineering processes. This key leadership position requires a strategic thinker with exceptional program management expertise, ability to drive change management and execution, strong leadership skills, and the ability to align programs with business objectives. Responsibilities include scoping and prioritizing new projects, assigning PMO resources, removing impediments/roadblocks to improve program execution, and provide coaching and development to a team of 15.

A Day In The Life

  • Lead and mentor a team of program managers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, execution, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage and prioritize the segments project portfolio, ensuring that programs align with business goals.
  • Collaborate with business leaders and key stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into actionable project plans, including providing regular updates.
  • Communicate program status, risks, and opportunities effectively to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Lead Product Development Board (PDB) reviews.
  • Ensure individual team members workload is appropriate and balanced across the team.
  • Implement and maintain engineering best practices, standards, and methodologies.
  • Identify, evaluate, and resolve project conflicts, issues, and resource constraints.
  • Partner with Enterprise teams across Hubbell on NPX, NPD, technology strategy, project planning, and execution of quality solutions that drive innovation.
  • Provide inspirational coaching, direction, and leadership support to employees to deliver employee, department, company, and customer results.

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or related field required.
  • Minimum 7 years of engineering experience, with at least 3 years leading teams and product development projects.
  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to associate with all levels in the organization.
  • Proven success in establishing key performance indicators, metrics, and focus to drive product development best practices.
  • Advanced negotiation, problem solving, and interpersonal skills (presentation, written and oral) with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management.

Preferred

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or MBA).
  • PMP Certification
  • Experience delivering solutions for utilities or other complex electronic, communications, or related technical and industrial entities.
