JOB SUMMARY:

The Designer is a member of the creative team that supports window and in-store needs.He/She is responsible for producing designs for a variety of in-store and window components (e.g. signage, imagery, propping) as well as marketing related collateral that supports seasonal objectives, overall brand positioning and store experience.The respective work would need to meet brand objectives/strategies of the Brand.

He/She will partner with the Brand Marketing team, Production, Visual Merchandising, and Store Operations teams, and other internal teams as appropriate. Given the start-up nature of this project, there will be a high degree of process development and forging of new ground.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop creative for windows and in-store environment in a variety of formats depending on the brand’s objectives and seasonal themes.Responsible for graphic design and layouts for windows, in-store signage (promotional and franchise), and overhead/store graphics/imagery

  • Design marketing communication material including in-store signage, window posters and decals, and in-store collateral

  • Leverage creative materials from the Global Center and localize for the stores in Greater China.

  • Develop and design propping

  • Work with cross-functional team to bring ideas to life in a clear concise way

  • Define and maintain a retail experience that is well designed, simple, bold, modern, and most importantly, authentic to Gap

  • Own projects from start to finish:from concepting to presentation, through layout and production hand off

  • Explore formats, color, typographic solutions and materials

  • Work with the creative director to develop seasonal campaigns, from concept to execution

  • Work with BPs to develop story telling messages for in-store and Social

QUALIFICATIONS:

1) Required knowledge, skills & abilities:

·Background in graphic design

·Expert knowledge of design related software is required (Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop)

·Strong creative vision and accomplished portfolio of prior creative work

·Excellent communication skills to clearly communicate ideas to a team and integrate feedback and direction

·Able to interpret and apply creative direction. Proven project management and motivation skills

·Sophisticated sense of typography and an understanding of its relevance to a good design

·Results oriented: able to think both strategically and provide creative solutions

·Ability to deliver work in a timely and brand appropriate way

·Broad knowledge of competitive retailers/designers

·Exceptional eye for detail

·Brand: An understanding of the Gap brand (including aesthetic and taste level).

·Excellent collaboration, influencing and leadership skills

·Highly flexible and adapts well to a rapidly changing, high sense of urgency environment

·Ability to manage and direct multiple projects at once

·Ability to work independently, prioritize projects and meet deadlines

·Practical knowledge of what it takes to get designs approved and produced

·Relationships: Proven experience and ability to work cross-functionally

·Should be aware of trends and new ideas, and able to incorporate them into fantastic creative

·Ability to create and innovate – finding new ways to bring the brand promise to life

·Knowledge of the printing and production process is a plus

·Experience with photography and photo shoots is a plus

·Cultural: An ability to interact with people in different cultures in a way that promotes understanding, and is respectful and effective.

·Excellent verbal communication skills in Mandarin and English

·Excellent written communication skills in simplified Chinese, English and traditional Chinese

·Passion: For Retail

·University degree or equivalent experience
