Business Intelligence Analyst


At Shopify, data runs throughout the entire organization. It's a key part of our decision making process, so we've spent many months developing a new data warehouse that is capable of processing an enormous quantity of data. We now use this data to power our key reports and dashboards, but also to provide high quality information that everyone can explore to find new insights. We are now looking for an experienced Marketing Business Intelligence Analyst to help us develop strategies to leverage the value of this data even more! You will work with our data team to prioritize data collection, transformation and advanced data analysis techniques, but you will also collaborate with business users, help them determine what the story is behind the numbers, and drive decision making, effectively transforming how we work as an organization. In this role, you will need to have a deep understanding of our data in order to identify issues, trends and opportunities to improve. In a typical day, you would use Google Analytics, Tableau and SQL to perform a variety of analysis about paid marketing channels, content marketing, email marketing, experiments, site traffic, and customer behaviour. Then, with an effective use of data visualizations you would meet stakeholders to discuss action plans and improve methodologies. You’d also contribute to our growth initiatives with ad hoc data requests and ideas for data products. Here is what you should probably have already: Minimum two years experience in a digital analytics related role Working knowledge of Google Analytics and Tableau Experience with advanced SQL and basic knowledge of Python An understanding of the SaaS model and ecommerce, in addition to marketing knowledge Great data visualization and interpersonal skills, with proven success building relationships across all levels We are looking for people with experience in digital analytics and the ability to work with information from multiple sources and identify trends and opportunities with analytical rigor.
