As part of our expansion we are looking for a Data Scientist to drive next-generation financial products and enrich the Zopa experience using data. The role This is a hands-on and quantitative role in which you will explore questions, formulate them as hypotheses, test them with statistics, and present insights with actionable information across a broad range of topics from risk to marketing. You will work alongside a team of analysts within the data science department using the latest technologies in analytics and big data. You have the programming skills to go beyond what the tools can do. Person specification About you You are detail oriented and obsessed with data quality. You have deep knowledge of web analytics, transforming and modelling data at scale, machine learning or attribution modelling on marketing acquisition channels. You have an inquisitive mind, are intrinsically curious and are passionate about deriving insights from data. Essential skills and experience required to undertake the role: Good programming ability with either Python, R, Scala, Java or matlab in a data science context (either creating propensity models, segmentations or solving complex problems using optimizations techniques) Academic and/or commercial background in statistics, math or science 1 year of experience in business intelligence, data science or analytics or recently completed a PhD in a quantitative discipline Very good SQL / HiveQL skills Knowledge of the Cloudera/Hadoop stack (Hdfs, Hive, Impala) Knowledge of front-end tools such as Tableau, Microstrategy or Business Objects Educational/qualifications required: A degree (BSc or MSc) or equivalent in CS, Physical Sciences, Applied Math, or similar How to apply If you are interested in this position and feel that you have the relevant skills and experience, please send your CV together with a covering letter detailing your suitability and salary expectations.
