About This Position

As a Brand Designer at Ellevest, you’ll be responsible for crafting visual design assets and marketing UI/UX that create a consistent brand experience. You willl apply your understanding of user behavior & data to define concepts, design strategy, and design deliverables to reach our target audience across our marketing channels. Reporting to the Chief Design Officer, you’ll collaborate closely with the marketing and engineering teams to craft beautiful marketing experiences that are intuitive and delightful.

About you:

You are wholeheartedly focused on the user, and believe that regular testing and iteration is the key to delivering design experiences that inspire brand love and engagement. You are a natural storyteller and conceptual thinker with a good sense for when to apply established patterns and styles, as well as the ability to expand and improve our brand when needed. You are able to move seamlessly from execution-oriented, iterative work to big-picture, strategic thinking.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Marketing team on the strategy and execution for new marketing initiatives
  • Design infographics, social media content, online ad campaigns, email campaigns, responsive marketing products as well as physical swag
  • Explicitly define user flows and edge cases for marketing initiatives
  • Identify and articulate needs of Ellevest’s target persona, design iterations to run through user research and data driven testing, refining solutions with resulting insights
  • Collaborate with marketing team partners to gather data on effective advertising and social campaigns, applying that learning to future iterations.
  • Give and receive design feedback
  • Prototype landing page and marketing site ideas quickly using pen and paper and popular tools like InVision, Sketch and Pixate
  • Participate in user research for marketing content, talking to potential clients and designing based on their needs
  • Balance business objectives and customer needs
  • Articulate your thinking to colleagues
  • Collaborate with engineers and business owners to turn your designs into working websites
  • Work iteratively in a highly Agile and Scrum environment
  • Be an evangelist for best practices and design excellence
  • Dig into the details, tweaking the messaging, collateral and concepts to better engage our target audience

Requirements

  • 5+ years of design experience in branding, marketing, and advertising
  • BA or BFA in graphic design, advertising, or related field.
  • An extraordinary  portfolio of (shipped) creative digital marketing (and/or product) design that showcases creative brand solutions, exceptional visual design, typography, composition, and creative storytelling
  • Experience creating successful B2C digital marketing campaigns (for example: drip emails, microsites/landing pages, promotions, and social media collateral)
  • A passion for design and continual improvement
  • Experience creating UI/UX for marketing sites with the flexibility and willingness to move quickly from idea to whiteboard to execution
  • Openness to receive feedback and have your opinions be challenged
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills — you can tell compelling stories about your designs and present your work confidently to any  audience (marketing stakeholders, engineers, PMs, executives, other designers, etc.)
  • Ability to prioritize projects, communicate progress, and deliver on time
  • Ability to thrive in an unstructured, fast-moving and constantly evolving high growth environment
  • Experience building fully responsive websites
  • Experience working for a startup a plus
