Job Summary
RBC Advisory and Oversight teams are responsible for providing independent and objective oversight of the management of Operational Risks which are risks arising from processes, people, systems or external events. Working with the Senior Director, CUSO Operational Risk Strategy & Regulatory Readiness and the Director, Operational Risk Advisory and Oversight, the Senior Manager, Operational Risk Advisory and Oversight will contribute to the ongoing review and monitoring of operational risk programs executed by RBC functions including Risk and Control Assessments, Operational Risk Appetite, Key Risk Indicators, Operational Risk Events, Issue Management, Scenario Analysis and aggregating and reporting of operational risk information to the US Operational Risk Committee.

What is the Opportunity?

Working with the Senior Director, CUSO Operational Risk Strategy & Regulatory Readiness, the Senior Manager, Operational Risk Advisory and Oversight will contribute to the ongoing review and monitoring of operational risk programs executed by RBC functions including Risk and Control Assessments, Operational Risk Appetite, Key Risk Indicators, Operational Risk Events, Issue Management, Scenario Analysis and aggregating and reporting of operational risk information to the US Operational Risk Committee.
What will you do?
Work collaboratively with functions to embed an understanding of the risk profile and risk appetite of the bank
Review and challenge operational risk practices of functions across all of CUSO
Review and challenge operational risk practices against RBC and CUSO operational risk framework and policies post implementation
Review and challenge the operational risk programs (risk assessment, operational risk events, key initiatives, scenario analysis, Risk and Control Self-Assessments, Issues and Actions) to ensure a complete, transparent and accurate view of the risk profile
Execute reviews of operational risk programs to ensure they continue to be appropriate based on emerging risk trends, thematic risks, and regulatory changes. Recommend new or revised assessments and advise unit management on mitigation strategies
Assist with the preparation of status reports, key metrics and other ORM reporting information as requested by management, the Risk Committee or RBC
Maintain awareness of current regulatory/industry trends impacting the Bank’s operational risk management program or practices
Act as an internal advisor to functions regarding the ORM framework, policies and procedures
Perform comparative analysis of ORM programs (risk assessments, operational risk events, etc.) and other items (internal audit issues, etc.) to accurately report the Operational Risk Profile.
What do you need to succeed?
Bachelor's Degree or higher and other professional qualifications such as a CPA, CA, etc.
Minimum 7 years’ experience in the financial services sector
Minimum 5 years of experience in Risk Management, ORM or Internal Audit
Minimum 5 years of management or operational experience
Experience with support functions (HR, Legal, Marketing, etc
