Job Description
Assists Cytology Pathologist with fine needle aspiration specimens. Prepares stains, mounts and labels slides. Participates in microscopic screening of cytology preparations. Observes and records tests results.
Job Responsibility
- Prepares stains, mounts and labels slides.
- Participates in Cytology conferences, Quality Assurance Program and quality control of the Laboratory.
- Assists Cytology Pathologist with fine needle aspiration specimens.
- Participates in microscopic screening of cytology preparations for the presence of carcinoma, related neoplasms and disease processes.
- Correlates abnormal Cytology Laboratory findings and document the appropriate departmental records.
- Maintains workflow and quality of work to assure timely accomplishments of assigned workload.
- Observes test results, and records necessary data on laboratory report.
- Maintains equipment.
- Performs related duties as required.

Job Qualification
- High School Diploma or equivalent, required. Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Basic Science or related field, preferred.
- Licensed by New York State Education Department (NYSED) as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist (or as appropriate to area of assignment), required.
- Minimum of one (1) year work experience and/or training specific to the work being done in the area noted above, required.
