Role Overview

In this senior position, you will provide technical leadership, structural engineering expertise and disciplined project delivery across complex pharmaceutical and advanced manufacturing facilities. Operating as the senior structural engineer, you will oversee and direct a team of engineers and designers, ensuring that all structural deliverables are completed safely, accurately, on schedule and within agreed budgets.

You will act as a technical specialist for sophisticated structural engineering assignments, applying extensive experience in the design and delivery of GMP regulated facilities, process structures, cleanroom environments and large scale industrial buildings. Success in this role requires strong command of project controls, including cost management, schedule performance and quality assurance.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Project leadership: Provide day to day direction, oversight and mentorship to structural engineers and designers, ensuring coordinated, high quality outputs.
  • Technical guidance: Serve as the structural SME for pharmaceutical projects, resolving complex engineering challenges and ensuring compliance with Eurocodes, Irish standards and industry best practice.
  • Team coordination: Manage and align the activities of the structural team, maintaining clear communication and efficient workflow across all design disciplines.
  • Schedule management: Establish and agree design schedules and package release dates with the wider project team, ensuring timely delivery of all structural work.
  • Client engagement: Understand and anticipate client expectations, consistently striving to exceed agreed performance, quality and delivery commitments.
  • Budget accountability: Deliver structural services within approved man hour and cost budgets, applying project controls to monitor progress and maintain performance.

Here's what you'll need

  • BSc or MSc in Civil / Structural Engineering
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng)

Ideally, you will also have

  • Eurocode & Irish standards expertise. Strong working knowledge of Eurocode, BSI and Irish design codes, including application within regulated pharmaceutical environments.
  • Irish Building Regulations. Demonstrated experience applying Irish Building Regulations to complex industrial and process driven facilities.
  • Process industry structural design. Familiarity with structural methods, practices and techniques specific to GMP facilities, cleanrooms, utilities buildings and large scale manufacturing assets.
  • Estimating & scheduling. Proven capability in estimating structural engineering hours, developing schedules and assessing progress and quality.
  • Large industrial project experience
