Temporary Job Description:

Job Summary: 

The Marketing Specialist supports the efforts of Kellogg IMC through project support, research, collaboration, and communication. Reporting to the IMC marketing team, this position is part of a team that is responsible for assisting with recruitment efforts and the communications associated with executing events that highlight Kellogg’s reputation while expanding visibility and engaging target audiences, particularly prospective students. The Marketing Specialist contributes to developing and implementing IMC marketing strategies and tactics. The ideal candidate will have prior experience with a wide range of marketing functions, including communications, events, digital marketing, and social media. 

Specific Responsibilities: 

Marketing and Recruitment

  • Collaborates with FT Admissions and Special Event teams to create recruitment plans and execute communications. 
  • Support the planning of Full-Time Admissions recruitment activities and events to deliver a best-in-class experience for prospective students, admitted students and all other key stakeholders. 
  • Oversees all FT Admissions recruitment events; responsibilities include event build out in database, invitation strategy, communication plan and execution. 
  • Provides creative, appropriate, timely, and unique solutions for overall event experience and plays key role in developing each event, in-person or remotely. 
  • Produces reports and ROI analysis based on event data. 
  • Identifies opportunities to improve and enhance events based on event analysis, feedback and competitive intelligence.
  • Works closely with the Assistant Directors of Admissions, Program Manager and Associate Director of Special Events to drive outreach strategy. 
  • Partners with Admissions team on marketing and communications efforts to prospective students

Writing and Communication

  • Write, edit, and proofread emails and other communications in Kellogg’s style, tone and voice, representing the brand.
  • Synthesize and disseminate complex information including analytics and reporting.
  • Manages all communication around event promotion, including updating the events 
  • page of the website, drafting/sending event invitations and follow-up communications. 
  • Manages event inquiries from prospective and admitted students

Project Coordinator 

  • Organize project planning, coordinate status meetings, and communicate the progress of interdisciplinary projects. 
  • Work closely with cross-functional team members to help manage and optimize planning processes and milestones. 

Analytics and Evaluation 

  • Assist team in compiling, organizing, and assessing weekly and monthly metrics, post-performance insights, and developing KPIs. 

Administration and Research 

  • Attend meetings with cross-functional teams and provide detailed recaps. 
  • Coordinate after action plans ensuring next steps are executed in a timely manner.
  • Review market trends and undertake competitive research to recommend future plans to help Marketing meet its goals. 
  • Make website updates as needed.

Support Strategic Planning and Execution 

  • Contribute to marketing and communication strategies to support key initiatives and programs, with a focus on growing and protecting Kellogg’s reputation and meeting admissions goals. 
  • Administer and maintain existing strategic plans, while participating with area/unit senior staff. 
  • Design and develop presentation materials from concept to completion. 

Miscellaneous 

  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • A bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, or similar 
  • 1-3 years of experience in marketing 
  • Superior organizational skills and strong multi-tasking abilities 
  • Meticulous attention to detail and ability to prioritize effectively 
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written 
  • Ability to work independently to meet expected deadlines and schedules 
  • Experience using project management software such as SmartSheet 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Comfortable analyzing marketing campaign performance and metrics 
  • Advanced experience with creating and giving presentations using PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) including Sitecore or Slate
  • Working knowledge of HTML and newsletter tools such as Beefree
  • Experience in higher education
