CPS (Commercial Products Supply) is a key part of the Technical, Innovation & Supply Chain (TISC) Function of Coca-Cola. CPS manufactures concentrates and beverage bases for sale to bottling partners all over the world. This global organization manages a network of 18 manufacturing plants in 18 countries along with 2 office locations (Atlanta, USA; Drogheda, Ireland and Tokyo, Japan). CPS also manages complex additional materials supply chains (e.g. juice, coffee, tea, milk, etc.) on behalf of bottling partners 

The CPS Plant General Manager provides leadership and strategic direction for 1 Plant in an specific country, in all areas of Plant Management, Production, Engineering, Supply Chain, QSE, Finance, HR and Operational Excellence while ensuring continuity of supply to all markets the concentrate plant supplies to. The Plant General Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the Plant’s have necessary resources at all times under an approved annual business plan while ensuring its timely execution, implementation of key programs, compliance with all KO Standards and local regulations, and collaborative work with key stakeholders (including Operating Units, Local Technical Functions and Bottlers) with a very customer focused mind-set while enhancing engagement of all Associates.

The CPS Plant General Manager will: 

  • Play a key role as a leader of the Local Leadership Team implementing the long term strategy, vision and mission for CPS
  • Provide leadership and strategic direction for the Plant, in all areas of Plant Management, Production, Engineering, Supply Chain, QSE, Finance, HR and Operational Excellence.A key part of this will be to increase flexibility (in line with the changing portfolio of TCCC) and productivity for now and for the future
  • Act as the site leader with local legal entity responsibility, including local regulatory, authority relationship and management
  • Be responsible for ensuring that the Plant achieves its annual business plan, implementation of key programs, compliance with all KO Standards and local regulations.This will require extensive use of standardized procedures, processes, technologies and equipment and will require close collaboration with other members of the Local LT implementing agreed strategies in the Plant
  • Ensure that the Plant is working collaboratively with key stakeholders (including Operating Units, Local Technical Functions and Bottlers) with a very customer focused mind-set to satisfy our Customers with continuous supply at the optimum cost, with the highest levels of quality and service.
  • As a member of the global General Manager community, ensure alignment and standardization across all CPS sites on a number of strategic matters
  • Lead and manage a team of direct reports while also providing inspirational leadership to a large number of indirect reports to maintain and further enhance employee engagement. Will ensure that the right level of capability is developed and maintained within the Plant for now and for the future. Will also identify, develop and grow the next generation of Local leaders through active performance management, coaching, feedback and the People Development Forum (PDF) process
  • The CPS GM is responsible for a complex supply chain network which includes the following key components o Inbound logistics for a large number of agricultural ingredients as coffee, tea, dairy ingredients, on top of the ingredients for concentrate and beverage base production
  • Management of a network of 5 distribution centers and 7 external warehouses for storage and supply of this vast array of ingredients as well as beverage base and concentrate.
  • Logistics for in time delivery to the Bottlers of all the ingredients necessary for production of the complex portfolio of products in the Japan business.
  • The supply chain team manages a COGS base of 450mm USD.

Account Management Role

  • Act as the “Account Manager” for the Regions or OU’s that the concentrate plant supplies to.
  • Act as a steward of the Customer Relationship Management program, ensuring all related routines are in place.
  • Ensure understanding and support of Region's or OU’s goals and business objectives.
  • Ensure strategies are jointly developed to fulfil current and future business needs, and facilitate the implementation of related activities to meet CPS and OU’s goals.
  • Liaise with Supply Chain to lead or participate in S&OP meetings with OU
  • Facilitate Senior Review meetings with OU President and CPS Functional Team
  • Follow-up on specific or special requests from the bottlers or OU’s on any aspect.
  • Interact with bottlers in order to ensure their business needs are fulfilled in terms of supply, cost, quality and service, as well as in any other strategic requirement for the Company.
  • Ensure key timely information is provided to the Region and OU’s to support their decision-making process.

Communication:

  • Communication with Local LT members to fully understand and reach agreement on critical programs and initiatives for local implementation.
  • Communication to provide inspirational leadership to all Local Managers and all Associates to support enhancing employee engagement
  • Communication with key stakeholders in Operating Units, other Local Functions and Bottlers with a very customer focused mind-set to agree common approaches and strategies to issues and new business opportunities

Analysis:

  • Play a key support (leadership / coaching) role to the Local Managers on issues as and when they arise, ensuring problem identification, stakeholder communication & management, root cause analysis and corrective action planning 
  • Ensure that the allocation of resources (capital expenditure, opex and headcount) is fairly allocated to the Plant to ensure that it is properly resourced to support its business for now and for the future
  • Ensure that the engagement of all Associates is maintained and enhanced, and ensure that key initiatives and changes are implemented as required.

Good judgement and decision-making:

  • Annual business planning development including capex, opex and headcount for the Plant
  • Approval of solutions to key business challenges from the Plant
  • Works closely with the CPS Operations Director recommending and drafting strategic plans, driving design and execution of specific initiatives.

Innovation:

  • The role is in the forefront of implementing innovation and identifying improvements in the Plant. This may be but not limited to recommending technologies that may be implemented to drive line efficiency and matters related to improving environmental and safety metrics (energy usage, waste minimization, etc.)
  • The Plant General Manager will play a key role in ensuring the execution of key innovative solutions in the Plant to challenging business issues. These solutions may come from Corporate Functions, CPS Functions or other best practices in industry
  • Innovation is a continuing process and as such it is expected that the role will identify improvement projects on an ongoing basis through reviews of Capital Expenditure Plans.

Basic Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in technical and operational leadership roles in manufacturing operations in a food, pharmaceutical or chemical industry
  • Bachelor's degree (Masters, preferred)
  • Excellent English & local language spoken and written skills
  • Track record of executing business results including people and change management in a supply chain environment
  • Previous experience in multiple functions (including operations) within CPS or equivalent organization
  • Business acumen, understanding of The Coca-Cola System and P&L management experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience managing relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Executing in a complex portfolio / matrixed business

Preferred Competencies:

  • Operating Unit and/or Bottler experience
  • Technical qualifications in engineering, supply chain or quality
  • International experience
