What To Expect
Tesla is seeking an ambitious Environmental Health & Safety Technician to support our team in Semi Factory Nevada. This role will support dayshift SFNV operations.
You will serve together with front-line/field leaders and crews to support problem solving, work planning, learning, collaboration, and action completion. Success looks like doing the basics right, fostering safety ownership across your teams, and facilitating risk reduction. You will ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations, in alignment with Tesla’s EHS Management System.
What You'll Do
Conduct proactive walks and inspections to verify that working conditions, planned worked, and active work meets EHS management system expectations as well as operational goals
Document findings using software tools and applications; communicate results and improvement opportunities with department stakeholders and appropriate EHS teammates
Respond to and investigate environmental, health and safety events; use standardized methods to learn from events, identify contributing factors, and communicate effective preventative and mitigative actions
Evaluate new contractor and job plan submissions using an online work management system; verify pre-work authorization processes are in place, and partner with program management teams to action deficiencies
Support routine and ad hoc EHS meetings with area management and stakeholders to communicate EHS programmatic improvements, event learnings, action statuses, and key performance indicator metrics
Embody EHS excellence in the field; serve as a trusted resource to both front-line teams and management
Teach, train and coach employees and contractors on fundamental EHS concepts and principles to reduce risk, execute EHS requirements, and engage through EHS improvement processes
What You'll Bring
Minimum of 2 years of general industrial, maintenance and/or construction experience, or 1 year of Environmental Health or Safety field experience plus completed education in an EHS-related field
Sound written and verbal communications skills with the ability to positively interact with all levels of the field work organization, EHS leadership, regulators, project management staff, and 3rd party contractors/vendors/suppliers
Experience and understanding of EHS regulatory systems and policy application, as well as history of successfully communicating and verifying those requirements in the field
Demonstrate the ability to execute on the responsibilities of the role in a fast-paced and growing global organization
Ability to use computer and mobile applications, in particular Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Well-organized, accountable, excellent attention to field details, and a passion for all things Environment, Health and Safety excellence
