What To Expect
As a Material Handler, you will support material movement to and from Tesla’s Cathode manufacturing production line and warehouse. The ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, is reliable and values teamwork in a safety-focused environment. Tesla will provide forklift training & certification. This role requires flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends, and to adjust as needed to support production demands.
As a Material Handler at Tesla, you play a critical role in supporting the production of vehicles and energy products. Your primary focus is on the safe, efficient, and accurate movement of materials to and from production lines, warehouses, and distribution areas. This hands-on role ensures uninterrupted material flow, proper inventory organization, and timely shipment preparation while prioritizing safety and quality. Roles are typically full-time, shift-based (including days, nights, and weekends), and physically demanding.
What You'll Do
Locate, acquire and deliver materials to the production line and prepare shipments for offsite locations
Accurately transact materials in digital systems (e.g., MES, MOS) and support inventory accuracy initiatives
Stock, organize, and maintain inventory in warehouses or production areas, including performing material counts and yard/warehouse checks
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment following 5S standards and all safety protocols, including proper PPE usage
Safely operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, tuggers, pallet jacks, flatbed carts, and more
Follow safety guidelines and procedures and demonstrate a high level of professionalism.
Maintains exemplary attendance and punctuality to scheduled shifts
What You'll Bring
Previous material handling experience within a production, manufacturing, warehouse, or comparable environment preferred but not required
Skilled with technology, including laptops, scanners, and data entry systems.
Ability to learn new skills and adapt to new work environments
Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal
Open to schedule flexibility that will allow for a variety of shifts, including days, nights, overnight, and/or weekends as needed as well as potential overtime
Experience operating heavy equipment (forklifts, EPJs, etc.); forklift certification preferred
Ability to maintain a safe and collaborative work environment
Essential Physical Demands:
Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours/day
Frequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 30 lbs.
The ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs
Frequently and repetitively, bend, lift and reach to install vehicle parts of varying size and weight overhead, accurately and in allotted timeframes
Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours/day, including over varied and uneven terrain
Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time, including up to 12 hours/day
Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, and hearing
Exposures to hazardous materials used in the Cell Manufacturing process and ability to follow waste handling/disposal procedures
Comfortable wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to Powered Air-Purifying Respirator (PAPR), safety glasses, safety shoes, bump caps, hearing protection, full-face respirators, gloves, and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines
